Will it really make a difference though?
I'll be the first to give skepticism about this idea..
I can't help but wonder what Nokia's motives really are for this increased 'presence?'
Up to this point, it appears that Nokia see's the U.S. market strictly as a body consisting of cheap consumers who rarely take a second thought as to a phone's features. That is, Americans only buy the phone that is the least expensive to go along with their 2-year renewed contract from AT&T or Verizon... To further illustrate this, take a look at the Nokia 6555 - this is Nokia's first impression on American soil about their joint efforts in order to capture the American market again. In my opinion, the 6555 is a bland piece of nothing which only succeeds in filling the quota for useless l...

you can't really put all the blame on nokia, some needs to fall on the carriers. nokia makes one of the best phones in the world and world wide they lead in sales of every catagory except here in america. US carriers are greedy and want to tell the ma...

The question you asked in the second part of your post is answered by what you said in the first part. Why doesn't Nokia make more 3G and high end phones for the US? Because, historically, Americans won't buy them. The iPhone did change that percep...

Nokia Phones are just tooo ugly
Nokia phones are plenty innovative. However, they are too "european" for the tastes of most Americans. If they want to increase American market-share, they need to hire some American designers.
There's definitely some truth to this. I personally kind of like the European designs (usually) but Nokia could definitely learn a thing or two from Apple when it comes to design aesthetics.

Only one way
IN order for Nokia to have a bigger presense in the US is to come out with more innovative and intriguing designs... functional and interesting designs, multiple designs for all demogrtaphic groups.
People want KB's, WiFi, 3G, BT and high resolution screens.
Listen up Nokia.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I'm not quite sure I understand your point. Nokia has phones that have all of that. The one area where US customers might have a gripe is with 3G, since Nokia obviously has many more phones with the worldwide 3G bands than they do any US ones. Howe...

Hope Sprint is among their partners still
I'm still using the last Nokia Sprint released, the 6165i. Unfortunately, it was released more than a year ago... so I hope Nokia and Sprint are still good friends as I dunno if I'm gonna switch carriers anytime soon. 😁
Of the four major carriers, I'm guessing that Sprint would be in fourth place. One, it is CDMA. Two, it is the second-place CDMA carrier. I'm sure Nokia would love to have a presence with all four major carriers, but if for any reason one has to be...

more AWS phones is the sign
5610, E51, N82 are good signs that nokia is more focused on US market
Really? How so?
First of all, the Nokia N82 only uses 2100Mhz WCDMA/HSDPA, which isn't available in the U.S. Just because the phone itself is available in the U.S. market doesn't mean a thing. What's the use if the phone doesn't fully support the n...
