Screen unlocks when receive a call

When I receive a phone call, my phone automatically unlocks the screen. This is a problem for several reasons, but the biggest problem is that my no-led app doesn't work because when the screen unlocks the app thinks that I've seen the missed call and doesn't show that I've missed a call. Is there a setting that's not set right or is there a problem with my phone?

Thanks
There is so many problems with this phone.. I finally said enough is enough.. Was a great phone until the update.. Just so you know you can go to Verizon and tell them your sick of all these issues and they will give you a choice of three Android phon...

keyboard

after you type something on the keyboard in landscape mode, is there a way to hide the keyboard
7 months later.....

If you switch from the swype keyboard to android keyboard there is a "done" key.

Otherwise.... just rotate the phone back to portrait mode.

Can someone help turn it off? I can't seem to find the option to change that. I thought there was a way to.
I dont think there is. Thats just the way text messaging is on this phone.

Video out capabilities?

does any one know if the Mesmerize (U.S. Cellular) has a video out function, or if there is an app out there that i could use to watch the videos on my phone on my TV? My TV has a usb port on the back, and i can't seem to figure out if i can actually hook my phone up to it and have a viable video playback. Thanks.

Recommend arooting application for fascinate?

I researched some on the internet. There seem to be a lot to chose from.

Which one is the best though? And the easiest? Will I have to hook my phone up to my lap top to root it? And how long does it usually take to root a phone?

My reg. Internet is slow and my lap top is old.

Thank you,
Jo

Using z4root to gain root access to mesmerize, and other questions

Hi all, great forum! I am a little confused and i am hoping someone can help. I had been reading on adroidforums.com that z4root was the easiest/safest way to root a Galaxy S, and just want to double check something. When i went-a-hunting for the z4root.apk (its not in the marketplace anymore), i found it, and many references to how easy it was to use it to root your Fascinate with Froyo. Are there more than one version of z4root? I dont have a lot of interest in risking a 2.2. upgrade, i will just wait with the rest of the world for US "Snaillular" to release Froyo*. Can anyone email me or point me to the version that they have seen work on a 2.1 Mesmerize? Thanks a bunch! I also have some other general questions.

Data tethering

Is VZW going to charge extra for data tethering or wi-fi hotspot?
Of course they charge for it... its verizon 20$ a month for the hotspot and at the moment there is no tether possibility
Once it gets 2.2, it will most likely be an extra $20 for tethering just like every other carrier requires money for tethering.

The only exception is the Nexus One because it is carrier unlocked so they can't control the software.
...
you can get away with it for free... its just risky.

Thinking of ditching my iPhone 4 for the samsung fascinate...any thoughts?

I've had the iPhone 4 for 3 months and while it's an amazing device it seems to drop a lot of calls. It seems that android has really caught up in the last few months & I really really like the look of the fascinate...

Any thoughts on doing this? I only switched to AT&T (from Verizon) for the iPhone a year ago. Most of the apps that I use are now in android. Oh & not interested in any of the other droid phones (X is too big, don't need a slide out keyboard, incredible is getting a little old in the tooth, etc...)

I would appreciate any advice!!
I have had my Fascinate for two weeks now and I thoroughly enjoy. I just cant stand the bing integration, I rather have Google, but all in all its a solid device with Android 2.1

SMS Notification

If this can only be done by using an app to do text messages any recommendations on a good one?

Anyone know how to turn off the sms notification bar (so the message doesn't display on the status bar) BUT still allows an audible alert when messages arrive?

Thanks

Family Locator

If you subscribed for the Family Locator service try my Family Locator application for Androids. It emulates web browser to send location request and get result from https://fl.vzw.com but displays it on Google Maps view instead of web page. Also you can pass coordinates to Google Maps/Navigation app.
Search market for Family Locator (V). Try free Demo version first. Before this make sure that location service works for you on official Verizon site https://fl.vzw.com
