FYI on the echo

I am the avdvocate for this phone and I am happy to say that I am very pleased with how well it does work. the battery is phenomenal it works very well. it has lasted a lease 2 days for me. by the way it comes with an additional battery that has a power box that can be used with any phone as an outside power supply. I downloaded a few apps and they do work in tablet mode very well. Using email the phone is the best because of the two screens. Its like I'm on my home computer. 1 side has the list of emails, while the other screen has the open email. Having the ability to have two browser pages opened at the same time is more useful than I thought. There is little to no lag as I was expecting. But everyone who has got bad things to sassy about...

I wouldn't expect you to have negative things to say about the phone since you are an "advocate" for this phone. The first day I got this phone, I switched back to my Epic. This phone is awesome as far as the dual screens and the ability to use the...

Sure--

--it's clunky, squared off & huge. But it's still frickin' cool.

Great review.
I think what he means is he likes the concept but as of right now its ugly and our current technology and it being the first one does not allow it to be perfect. But just like touch screens were a first and not perfect, either is this dual touch scree...

My first car ever (1989 Volvo Wagon) was clunky, squared off, and huge - but it served me well, and could certainly take a lickin and keep on tickin! And it was definitely frickin' cool. ;)

I've been saying this all along...

"The Echo is the first handset that can honestly and truly multitask, as far as I am concerned"

And it's true.

No matter how hard you bash Windows phone or iOS, NO PHONE truly multi-tasks unless you can actually USE two apps at the same time like on a computer.

It would be fun to see a better manufacturer produce a phone like this... HTC???
amen. I can't wait to see one of these in action...

Kyocera might not be at the height of fashion, but they have usually built solid devices (7135, anyone??).

Has Sanyo/Kyocera made any successful phones yet?

I can not think of any good or successful phones made by this company. The spec's seem great but what about quality?
depends on who makes the processor, if kyocera makes it they'll probably fry up in no time flat...

as for quality, the only phone to date that has actually impressed me in the Taho
...
Successful? Sure. But they've been doing mostly low-end phones for the past few years, so I would say that the definition of "successful" is different than it would be for a high-end smartphone like this. This is new territory for them (at least in re...

i would like to thank sprint for thinking outside the box.

i really think this is a cool ideal from sprint it might work or it might not. but at least it is different from any other device out there. just thought i would give some credit to sprint for this one. i am getting one on launch day anybody else?
Thinking outside of the box is one thing.

Producing a great product is something else entirely.

Putting a small battery in a multi-screen phone with a 1GHZ single-core processor sounds like a terrible idea.

And there is no "multi-tasking" ...

So here we are almost 3wks later,...what do you think thus far?

Is this your first Android smartphone?
This phone's two screen together have about an inch more of screen than an Evo turned sideways. Multi-tasking is awkward at best. I hope there isn't a flood of early adopters for this device because right now its lookin like a stinker.

To its cre...

1370 MAh battery?

This has a lower spec batter than the LG Optimus S (1500 MAh).

Running two full size screen? I see this thing lasting 2 hours at a time (no matter what the PS spec says).
other sanyo phones with 1370mAh battery which has a good battery life.. but i must agree, this one is 2 full size touch screen phone, so i think that might not be enough.. come on sanyo

Two months before this phone gets delegated to pre-paid.

I'd be willing to bet, that after flopping horribly on Sprint this phone will be the perfect device for Virgin Mobile.

There is no way people are going to contract themselves into this Kyocera Phone.
i second that

Fragmentation

The only thing this is causing is further fragmentation of the Android platform. Do you think Google will spend any time making their new versions compatible with this? Don't expect any new versions....
Yes,

Because More phones will support dual screen and so will more versions of Android OS. Sorry but you are wrong on this one.

Why?

That's all I have to day. SMH
Why wouldn't you want to use two apps at the same time, or browse two web pages at the same time? I can think of tones of situations where I'd use it.

i COMPLETELY agree!! why not focus on improving multi-touch or spend the extra production cost on upgrading the screen quality... or processor... or battery life... or speaker... or hdmi output... or even simply a better camera???? sure, there are a F...

Additional reading on this phone.

Wired.com had a article on this phone, and addresses a few things you have mentioned.

certain apps have been designed to run on both screen, like the web browser, but a market launch will show how well this will work. i'm sure the extra battery strongly will come in handy , but no excuse for poor battery life.
