For one they are not looking to be "Bought Out" They are looking to "Merge" with another company..
If Cingular BOUGHT AT&T, it will still be known as Cingular.
If Cingular MERGES with AT&T, they will make up a new company name to reflect the merger.
But it will still be know that AT&T and Cingular are the Parent companies of the new merged company.
