Knowing that the Premiere program is ending, I currently am eligible for my 1-year upgrade. If I cash that in on a new phone now (before the end of the year) will I still get one more 1-year eligibility upgrade in 2012?
I was trying to make sense of it from this article: http://www.sprintfeed.com/2011/09/sprint-endi ng-premier-program/
..as the article says "can use their qualifying upgrade through 12/31/12"?
I'd like to get a new phone now, but also wouldn't want to miss out on any new LTE devices released by this time next year (iPhone 5?, Samsung S3?, WinPhone 8?, etc...)
Thanks for the help!

No, you will not get an additional yearly upgrade in 2012. The article is saying that if you have a yearly upgrade NOW, (Gold Premier), you can keep that upgrade option thru the end of 2012, even though the program is ending 12/31/2011. Once you use the upgrade, that's it.

D'oh! Guess I should've cashed it in earlier...but no, stupid HP messed it all up for me!
Now I debate to either spend $100 for asurion to replace my broken Pre and wait till summer 2012 to use the upgrade on a new LTE device. Or use the upgrade now & deal with upgrading to an LTE device at possible full price then.

Actually I upgraded to the iphone 4s on friday, and I am a premier customer, and my upgrade date is still one year from this october which means I still get a full discount on 10/12. I even called sprint and had them notate my account just incase it changes, that i was told by the rep it WILL NOT change. so if it does change, they have to honor the 10/12 next year if i have any problems in the future! So YES you will be elgible next year! Im going to call sprint every month and have them notate my account with that!!

LOL.. well gl w/ that. Once you use your annual upgrade, you move to the new upgrade process. So now that you have used it, you will not get another annual upgrade.Period. Whatever rep told you that is an idiot. Doesn't really matter what is noted on your account..The fact remains, you will not have another annual upgrade. The change just meant if you have an annual upgrade currently, and lets say, you are not eligible until June of next year, you can wait until Dec 2012 to use it. You already used yours. Sorry, but its true.

well thats not what there system information is telling me!!! SO APPARENTLY THE NEW SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING ON MY ACCOUNT!

First off. Some of my post pertains to sprint, some of it does not. Its just general information that people should know.
Most likely it won't tick over until 1/1/12 when the new eligibility takes effect. Regardless of whether or not your account is noted, the upgrade would not be honored. Its not a matter of will/won't is a matter of can/can't. The system does not allow someone to select a price for a device that the account is not eligible for.
It always saddens me that people think verbal information is binding. Anything that is said over the phone can change at a moments notice. It also say in the terms and conditions for every Carrier that they reserve the right to make changes to the agreement.
The premier program is also som...

Hopefully for you (and me) that the 10/12 date remains once you actually activate your 4S when it arrives. Update this thread once you have had it activated if you can.
Sadly, my update says 06/01/10...which if I'd upgraded then, I'd still be due for another now--stupid Palm/HP (sorry, one last harp on them).
Now I wait & see if/what new 4" Samsung sliders come available soon--Android or WP.

Actually i sent a text message to 1311 right after i upgraded to the iphone, and it sent me a text that said I am elgible for a new phone with full savings on 10/12. so actually a rep did not tell me, it tells me whenever i go to sprint.com/ send a text to 1311,ETC...and I just called to make sure that that date is not going to change and MADE them notate the account. SO SORRY BUT THAT IS TRUE!!! SO OH WELL, thats not my error, thats an error on there part and now its to late to take it back!

if your upgrade date is a yr old, then it would go based off the year you use it. If you use it this yr, then you would most likely be elgible in 2012 if you are a premier customer at this moment.

I hope so. I'll just have give them a call. Thx.
