What do you want your phone to do?
...
I want all the functions that come with the smart phone I want windows mobile 7, word, excel, ect.. and be able to run my office while I am way. I run a graphic design company as well as help My fiancee's mother with her cleaning company. I would love it if I could get the Palm Centro or Blakberry curve to work on the Metro Pcs Network.

Whoa, slow it down there grimmygraphics, your asking for too much now. Windows Mobile 7.0 isn't available, 6.1 just made it to out. I'm sure you guys will get a Blackberry Curve soon. By the looks of it, it seems like Metro PCS gets the phones 2 quarters behind the big 2 CDMA carriers. Doing a "Metro Flash" isn't going to fix your needs, unless you're just using the PDA and phone.
...
My bad I did mean mobile 6, but you knew what I meant. I knowthe flash program won't help me. That is why I was wondreing if anyone would know or heard when they are coming out.
Thanks for your info though Mr Yean.

Metro PCS does not have a smart phone on the road map to be released anytime soon. This is not to say they will never have one, but definately no time soon. 2 problems we encounter. Most people are not going to pay the price of a smartphone. I know a lot of people say they will, but when the Motorola Rokr (Z6M) was released with a $299 price tag people were very slow to purchase it (only a handful would actually be willing to pay the $300 price tag for a smartphone) And also tests of the Smartphones on our network have not gone well.
Hope this helps

Yea, that and half of Metro's customers in the urban areas don't even know what a MP3 is, let alone know how to use a MP3 player on their phone.
Hell, all of my customers still call it metro pc, they never ever say the "S".
Do u know how hard it will be to try to explain to Detroit customers how to use a touchscreen? or Windows?

I totally disagree with your comments about customers not able to know how to use a smartphone or pay for one. Many people are now using Metro pcs for business use. Yes, you will still have your customers who don't need all the features of a smartphone. Besides, here is an observation, how many people you know that bought an iphone and had no need for one and yet how to use it? I am very tech savy, and have metro for more than 5 years and love it. I for one will buy a metro blackberry. And the Rockr didn't sell well not because of its price, but for the lack of its features and looks. It was over-rated. The Razr is better built and more mobile. A smartphone will sell in metropolitan areas.
...
i would buy a metro pcs blackberry too
...
you do know that a blackberry curve would cost you 569.99 on MetroPCS or Cricket, correct?
...
It wouldn't be too hard for me, since I live in Detroit (actually less than half the year). It doesn't matter what area the customers are, I'm pretty sure people in suburban areas wouldn't know how to use most of those features either. Actually most people don't even take advantage of most features of their phone. The younger crowd seems to be more apt to using more features. Nonetheless, a smartphone for metro isn't smart, for their target customer, a smartphone would not even be a good idea.
...
Thats who their target customer is. Low-middle class, or younger kids who's parents don't was to spent $300 a month on texting.
But thats where i work, i don't know about other markets.
...
Well i just found out this 2 days ago!!! and the answers is yes!!!!!. and is coming sooner than anyone expect.
It comes from a good source.. Sorry I can't give the details, but I promise to keep it quiet.
...
🤣
all of these that you want for $50 per month? 🤣 are you kidding? If metro can do with this price, I am sure Att, verizon and tmobile will be out of business! millions of millions will switch.

Metro PCS lacks a network like the big four. There fore Metro PCS will lack a handsome device portfolio.
...
If i may ask what kind of network does metro use. i know it is CDMA but what else does it need to support smartphones?
my current phone {sam u520} has displayed 1x and ev signal
thanks
...
metroPCS primarily uses CDMA 1x, and in some areas, both 1x and EV. EV is dependent on region. Like in Michigan, I only get 1x in the Detroit area but when I'm in Ann Arbor/Ypsi, I get EV.
...
They also use the new faster AWS in Las Vegas and Philly
...
what people dont realize is metro uses the following
1XRT, EVDO, AWS, AND 3G, also its not the network that is the difference we use the same technology as sprint, verizon, alltel, and leap communications which has cricket cellular and jump woreless. the only difference is the big four are on a higher spectrum wave and metro and leap are on a lower less wanted spectrum wave and there for its cheaper and more economical to sell.(NOTE NOT TALKING ABOUT GSM CARRIERS HERE ONLY CDMA)
if people would research more they would find out that metro pcs and leap wireless just joined up in a network share and exchange program and metro pcs is still working with leap communications to buy leap communications.
remember leap holds spectrum in ...

remember leap holds spectrum in locations metro does not and metro holds spectrum in places leap does not combined they would be the first company to hold spectrum in 100% of the markets making metro pcs the larges cellular carrier
hope this kinda helps you out it just takes time for something like this to work out and if you have any problems believing what i have wrote here go to metropcs.com or leapcommunications.com and read the investor relations threads its all there p
