Anyone had issues with the liquid crystal screen cracking on the LG260? I did hear some inklings about it but it seems to be more frequent now that customers are coming in to complain!

Any ideas. . .

Yes, the issue has been identified which is why the ux260 has been made available as an otc phone. In the past, the phone would have to be sent to lg for repair, but as the issue became more common, it was determined that this was a defect. I hope that his answers your question. Of course, this is not to say that in every instance, if a customer comes in with a ux260 with an exploded lcd in the form of a leaf shape that it was not caused by physical abuse so use your better judgement.

Actually it was abuse from customers flicking it open and closed too hard. We had a lot come in and once we figured out how it was happening and told the customers to be careful we havent seen any come back for that problem.

Some may be from opening and closing too hard, but there is a known issue that LG has confirmed. It comes from the position of the soft keys against the lcd. If the cracks spread across the lcd from the soft keys, LG has agreed to cover under warranty. Visit a CORPORATE retail store with a service repair center, and not an agent store since they do not have repair centers. It may be covered under warranty, but a service tech will the one to determine that.

I have seen quite a few with cracked screens. It just seems really thin around where the screen cracks so you just have to be sure not to apply pressure there. But, with as many that I have seen it seems as though there could be a design flaw

Its not the thick or thinness around the screen. Someone else already explained the primary reason its happening. Its the proximity of the soft keys to the LCD, they are kind of close. But like someone else said, just because they have a cracked screen doesn't mean that's what caused it. Take it to tech window in a retail location as they are the only ones authorized to do an OTC replacement. There is also an issue with the charging port, which can be a very bad thing, since it doubles as a data port, lucky a fair amount of LGs are able to bluetooth contacts. The port isn't connected to the board by much and the plugs seem to be a little on the tight side. I believe the 260 is going to be phased out to make room for the LG Banter(formerl...

Thats weird. Literally every person on our entire team in town does otc swaps. Never heard of a technician being the only person able to do that.

This is an easy one, people, if you read your buzz articles. The "cracked" lcd is covered as in-warranty as long as there are no signs of obvious physical damage or abuse on the phone, since it was recognized as a known issue by LG.
