Sprint to USCC?
I'm thinking about switching from Sprint to USCC and wanted to see if the 800MHz system was a security risk. I remember a friend that was able to pick up calls on a scanner a few years back. Have they been secured? Any other issues I should think about before switching?

The 800MHz is still digital specturm so picking up cell calls shouldn't happen. However just remember that USCC is a local cell provider and you must live in a USCC area or they will drop you after too much roaming use, they also have a very small 3g coverage area as apposed to VZW, AT&T or Sprint, last but not least they are more expensive and there phones are always behing the technology curve. any other question about USCC?

Actually they just launched nationwide 3G based roaming agreements with other carriers like Sprint and Verizon.

actually we just shored up an agreement that will allow us to have national 3g coverage outside of our native coverage area...

Lets see VZW, ATT, have 900 min plans for 59.99...ours 49.99 for 1000! They dont have free incoming, we do, they dont have N&W at 7, we include that.
Family plan 700 min for 69.99 for each try ours for 1000, and the same features included.
Lets try features...unltd txt $20 all around. data $30, same all the way around, but we include telenav...a $10 value included...

Telenav included for 5 bucks extra a month on android phones which should have been 24.95 but have been boosted to 30 due to the mobile navigator. Something no one needs on an android phone thanks to google maps.

How is a 5gb cap on internet unlimited? And then when you do go over they immediately accuse you of tethering even when it's a phone or tower issue.
Oh wait, no activation fees, no upgrade fees; not with AT&T and VZW.

google maps does not provide the same functions as a nav...please google doesnt talk to you, re route you or find anything around you w/o exiting the app all together...

So the snap is $10 after mail in, the BB is 60 after mail in...yes i would agree that we have a smaller selection of phones, but thats because of the customer base... if we were in the same boat then we would be doing the same thing...

US Cellular's coverage is now 98% covered in their network. Verizon is at 97% of their coverage area. Not bad for a regional carrier.

Uscc works well in most places and has very good plans. just go into a store and get details

Do you also realize that there is this thing called "exclusive" right? T-Mobile got the first google phone. Exclusive...AT&T has the iPhone. VZW got the first real "Droid". Sprint and the Hero. You know why... Money...you also know that T-Mo, Sprint, AT&T and VZW are in debt up to thier eyeballs...

USCC has made mistakes with phones too. The LG 265 was recalled for several months after "passing testing" initially. Motorola Hint had plenty of issues. The Moto Crush is junk. That's a real problem with CDMA phones, they're touchy. What may work with one company won't work well with another. Hopefully LTE and an open standard will fix that problem. Looking back someday in cell phone history, this period from 2001 to 2011 will have to be considered a "dark ages" in technology terms. The US went with a technology that was totally different and incompatible with the rest of the world. That's thanks to Sprint and Verizon choosing CDMA and its proprietary technology leading the way. The network management that is required with CDMA eat...
