Just signed up for US Cellular, and I want to change my phone?
Yesterday (8/18/11) we signed up for US Cellular on the web. We got three LG Saber phones on the Family Essential Plus plan (1500 minutes, Unlimited Messaging, 5 GB of data per line) because the total that we'd have to pay for the day would only be $0.03, and we have -$173 in the bank account. I got an email saying the phones would arrive sometime next week. I don't want an LG Saber. I had a Motorola Devour with Verizon, so the LG Saber is a bit too basic for me. I was actually interested in the LG Genesis. I will have the money to pay for the phone on September 15. Can I change my phone? Will I get any crazy fees?

If they start the 30 day swap period on 8/18/11 then the last day you could swap would be 9/16/11. The Genesis is a smartphone but if you are on the plan you say you are then there would NOT be any additional fees because that plan already includes the data plan.

It goes by when you actually activate the the service. If you waiting for non activated phone to arrive in the mail your 30 day period will start when the phones are turned on. You can exchange them under that 30 day rule. you would however need to pay the difference between the phone prices. There will be no additional fees beyond that. Make sure you visit a COR store to do the exchange.

**********This information is not correct. And you do NOT have to go to a company owned store, which I assume erik means by COR??. Call Customer Service. They will guide you best. Thanks.

How is that info not correct, if they purchased the phones from USCC "the company" over the phone or online they can be physically returned to a company owned location (COR). Because they were purchased from "the company", they cannot return them to an Agent location (ABC Wireless "powered by USCC.) Ex. You cannot buy product A from Walmart and return the same product A to Target because they sell the same product A.
When it says "try our service for 30 days and if you don't like it you can bring it back." It doesn't say... Try our service for 27 days and if you don't like it bring it back." There is a difference between purchase dates and active dates.
What fees would be charged if they returned a phone w/in 30 days and did a ph...

Ok, I'm wrong about the 30 day part, however as a company they should express compassion for the customer and allow them to do the 30 day exchange from the day the customer tuned on the phones. Which they do.

you do not have to go into a retail store, but it is the easiest method of switching phones. You can call customer service, or go into a retail company owned store, but I do everything through my local store anyways.
