Phone Pricing Scheme?
So i have been a long time USCC customer and i am looking at renewing and getting a new phone. the phone i want is advertised for $39.99 after 50 MIR. But to qualify for the rebate you HAVE to have a $14.95/month plan for 3 months. So to eliminate pennies. You pay $90 for a phone. spend another $45 in a data plan and then get $50 back...To me this isn't a $40 phone it is a $85 phone. False advertising on the cost of the phone?

Every carrier does it the same way... USCC isn't any different...

You would be correct. Figures can't lie, but liars can figure.

If they merely said $49.99 after mail-in rebate then it would be. Unfortunately for you hypothesis, they do not. On commercials they say see store for details either on the bottom in fine print or verbally. On their website, the "After $50.00 mail-in rebate" is hyperlinked symbolizing you must click on it to access more information that further explains the mail-in rebate rules.
Sorry Charlie

If you go in their store there are three prices on their price cards. The top price is the retail price, the middle price is with activation or upgrade, and the bottom price is the phone's price if you have any kind of data plan 🙂

I will say USCC buys the phone from the manufacture for more than that $85. Cell phone carriers do not make $ selling a device, they lose money but will eventually make it up in your monthly rate.
USCC also gives you the option to buy the phone with points, thereby eliminating the out of pocket cost. Talk with your local rep about how many points you have if you are on a Belief Plan.
