Is this legal?
I would like to know why and how U. S. Cellular representatives have talked customers such as myself into upgrading and purchasing new phones from them, knowing full well that these devices were going to be useless in a few short months? I've purchased 2 new phones from us cellular in the last 5 months... I had heard rumors of the future sprint buyout and spoke with the us cellular agent about it... She confirmed the rumors with me.... Yet still sold me 2 new galaxy's... Never mentioning the the devices weren't going to be compatible with Sprint... and I basically handed us cellular a good amount of money for nothing! Maybe that was my own fault for not researching the facts more before the purchase... However I do think any merchandise sal...

That does seem a little fishy. However, you did buy the phones. It would also seem to be common sense that US Cellular phones would not be compatible with another carrier's network. Shame on the representative for not at least questioning the possibility of the US Cellular phone working on another carrier's network. Do you get to take those points with you or will US Cellular offer you something in exchange?

This may be common sense to some but not all of the general public is educated on how these devices work or don't work with different carriers. That's what service representatives are for. Like I said a Us Cellular employee was attempting to get me to upgrade my son's phone and purchase a new phone from them and as she was pushing the sale she had to be aware that this merchandise would be useless to me in a matter of weeks. Us Cellular is offering nothing. They are basically done and all points are lost.

A few things, U.S. Cellular was not sold to Sprint. Certain markets were sold to Sprint. If you were a customer in one of those markets, you would not have been able to purchase a phone within the last month. In addition if you had purchased a phone more than a month ago, but less than 3 months, you would have paid close to retail price and most likely would not have purchased the phones. Chicago, St. Louis, and parts of Central, IL were sold. All U.S. Cellular equipment in thos markets that were sold will continue to work. Once the agreements are up for the impacted customers, Sprint will most likely try to retain those customers. I live in St. Louis. I purchased both phones at the discounted upgrade price. If Us Cellular didn't sell me the phones in the Ofallon Missouri retail office... Then who did? And a Us Cellular employee tried to talk me into buying a third phone two weeks ago.

You got a great deal then. Your phones will work once you become a Sprint customer. Your choices are: port out after the transition (no etf fee and you could resell the devices), or stay Sprint and see what special deals they offer you. U.S. Cellular had raised the prices on all devices in these transitional markets. The fact that you got them at a discounted price means you are in a better position than most in similar situations.

Former USCC employee that was in a transition market. We were told at that time that it was business as usual. So new activation, upgrades and the likes were still acceptable practices.
It wasn't until Jan. that the phone prices went up and the mind set changed from selling to customer service alone. I understand that you feel mislead however for legal reasons the network will not just turn off when the deal closes in a few days, officially.
The USCC network in these areas will still work unless Sprint gives terms as to when the network needs to be turned off... So for you that means two things, Sprint will let you know when that will happen or if they don't USCC has to keep the network up for at least two years (to full fill any ...
