Cricket in Portland

I'm pretty new to the forum and currently have TMO in Portland, Oregon. Works okay but one of my two lines has been on month to month since January and my other one has about 15 months to go. Would consider buying out of the one line if service worked fine in Portland. I do travel to California (Los Angeles) two or three times a year and to Florida once or twice. Believe it or not, a local Cricket rep told me it would be a crapshoot for it to work well in those two areas, even with the roaming mins. She actually owns a local kiosk so she is not a disgruntled customer. WHO has experience in Portland and have you taken the phone to the coast or Bend or out of state with good success?!!

I've had Cricket for almost a year in Portland. They used to have a funky two step dialing for roaming, but that went away earlier this year and now it just works like normal. I can confirm that it works fine at the Oregon Coast, Mt. Hood, and I just got back from Seattle.

I've had no issues roaming.

Sounds from your message that it worked in Seattle just fine. Have you gone anywhere else roaming that worked like maybe Bend or out of state? Also, have you accessed their internet or text messaging and does it work okay? Are you able to retrieve your email or voice mail when roaming? Sorry to ask these questions but the local stores or kiosks are staffed with people that just can't answer my questions! I appreciate your response as I will be signing up with someone very soon!!

I've taken my phone to San Francisco and Maui, and it worked just fine in both places. Just make sure you have enough money in your flex bucket to roam...I ran out of minutes in Maui, but I was still able to send text messages (for free, basically) to communicate with friends on the island.
