Cricket Jump!

😁 I went to pay my bill the other day at a payment location, and the guy told me that in mid-march, Cricket will launch a program called "Cricket Jump" which will let users send and recieve calls outside of the cricket calling area. Even make and recive calls out of state. I don't know how Cricket is going to do it because of the way that they are set up, that is all the information I have about it though. He wasn't sure about the date so don't quote me on that but be on the lookout for Cricket Jump, anybody know anything.?

I don't know if they will add an extra 10 or something a month or if they will have it put into a prepaid accound like they do with CricketClicks. I hope it's the latter, I don't go out of town that much at all and paying 10 or more a month wouldn't be worth it. If I get more info I will let you all know. Getting in touch with a Customer Rep is like Mission Impossible but I'll try.

They restructured and are making a profit now. I don't know if you noticed or not, but they were buying up spectrum in the last auction. And making deals with verizon with some of that spectrum in exchange for a roaming agreements...

Actually, from what I "hear". You can already do this. I know the people that have it in pennsylvania can use there phones now in parts of Ohio...though I can't say what network they're running on 😉

I think thats different. They offer that here, for $5 extra a month I can use my phone in Phoenix and Tucson. This sounds like it would let you roam where ever verizon is.

Yeah, from what I gather on Crickets web-site, it is a program for people who don't want to commit to a monthly bill. Even though Cricket doesn't have contracts like Vrz or ATT does. Kinda like boost mobile, or ATT's Go phone or something. Well I wonder what that other article is, sounds like Cricket is up to something, Cricket Jump may be just the beginning.

The San Diego-based Leap also said that it has signed a roaming agreement with Verizon, and plans to launch an away-from-home calling option for its customers in the first half of this year.

I mean we don't really know what the name of the new program is. We can gather that the name is "away from home" from the web-site. Leap's website I mean, everyone knows about Cricket using Vrz towers now, my friend kb7oeb already posted the link. The question now is when, the article also said that whatever Cricket was selling to Verizon would not be final until later this year! Does that have any bearing on this new program?

Check this out from http://mycricket.com/termsconditions.aspx#jum p

Three-Way Calling, Caller ID, Call Waiting, Voice Mail and Messaging may not be available in analog service areas or outside your home calling area. Airtime fees apply when you access your voice mail or retrieve voice mail messages from your Jump by Cricket phone. Three-Way Calling and Call Waiting will result in charges for both lines being used. If calls are made or received outside your local calling area, roaming charges will apply in addition to the amounts charged when using Jump by Cricket Service. Some features may not be available at this time. Please contact your Cricket representative for further details.

Ummm.... Very interesting. Sounds like they are joining the two programs together. Maybe if you put money in this Jump account and have it activated, when you leave your local calling area, it will use the amount of minutes you have in your prepaid account, in addition to whatever roaming charges that may come up. I'll have to ask a rep about this, I'm already paying a monthly bill, I don't know if you can add Cricket Jump to a monthly bill account. Well Imma call somebody get back to you all.

Yeah it's hard to get in touch with a Cricket rep, they have alot of issues with customer service. It's ashame too, Cricket has a really good shot at becomming a major player in the wireless industry if they get there act together. SMH. Thanks for the number bro

I don't think Cricket has launched this program yet. So maybe they won't let you download an OTA update until they have their system ready or completed.

I just talked to my cousin who works for AirComm in Knoxville, and he said to look for this plan within the next two months, and it would most likely be something like 5 bucks added onto your bill every month, so, we'll see!!!! 😁

That 5 bucks added onto your bill every month is called a flex bucket. It's 5 dollars used towards a number of things, travel time minutes (using minutes outside of your calling area), international long distance (Mexico or Canada), directory assistance calls, or optional features such as ringtones or games.

More of what it is... Cricket Jump is their pre-paid offering... .10c/min in the usual local coverage area.

the 'roaming' option is this: your phone must have an extendable antenna (ie a'vox 8910), you pay $5 extra per month and your minutes are .59c/ea when you're out of your local coverage area. to place calls out of your area, you'll have to enter a PIN to be able to complete that call. when receiving a call, in roaming, you can just answer it, but beware, your phone won't say roaming until you look at the signal indicator! 🙂

i just asked my rep. this morning when she came to visit, i sell cricket, among other carriers like virgin, boost, simple freedom, tracfone, net10, sprint, cingular, and alltel! all from the local walmart ...
