Anyone been cloned or had their phone tapped?
I have had Alltel for over 3years and work for AT&T (Cingular) for 4 and 1/2 years. Both companies have there good and bad. Because Alltel is CDMA technology it is sooo easy to be cloned or have someone tap into your phone to get your text messages. With CDMA and TDMA phones all you have to do is manually program a old phone with someone elses # and get all there incoming text messages. Good thing about AT&T is you have to have someone's SIM card to do that. 😕 Unortunetly found this out the hard way! anyone know a way around that or how to protect your phone?

Actually, CDMA is more encrypted then GSM. So voice and data transmissions are inherently more secure then GSM. Aside from receiving text messages, which you'd be foolish to send anything really confidential in, as it is essentially an email. CDMA is much more safe.

Essentially on CDMA, only your phone, can decode your voice call. Because a CDMA call is spread and scrambled through all the spectrum and can only be reassembled by the intended phone. Although there are ways to tap into them they are much much more expensive. ATT using GSM use a TDMA base and is easier to assemble the voice call.

My question is who really is going to take the time to clone your phone to steal your text msgs? You have to be kidding me.. this smells like another flame thread but hard to tell this time
