So I have now had three brand new Motorola Q's and all of them have worked out horribly for me. Everyone started to freeze every half hour. I have atleast another year on my contract. Is it even possible that they would let me trade phones to say a Blackberry and pay the difference? or am I screwed?
Thanks

First, try this: Back-up all of your personal data on the Q, then, navigate through the menu to Start > System Tools > Master Reset -- and say 'yes'...this will erase all your user data...then the Q will re-boot, and you can restore your previously backed up data.
If you continue to experience difficulties, go back to the store you've been working with, and ask about getting out of the Q and into a BB by paying the difference.

i have been having issues with my 6800 after 3 XBM they will allow you to swap to any phone of equal or lesser value, not sure about an upcharge..

This is not exactly right. In store you will get a brand new one first. Three XBM's will result in a brand new of the same phone (since xbm's are refurbished).

What is the point of giving me a 4th phone even if it is new? The phone has the issue not the svc or me, it is a prob with the phone model it self..

You should be able to get a BB by paying the difference in price between what the BB is going for and what a Q is going for given the issues you've had - it will take dealing with the store manager.

The Q was known for having that problem. That hard reset on the phone is the only thing that I have heard that fixes the problem with freezing. I know after 3 xbm's, policy states you get the same exact phone but a brand new one at the store, not refurbished. If, by any chance if Alltel no longer carries that model they would replace it with the next most comparible model....all i gotta say is good luck w that cus Alltel is straight by the book when it comes to policy.

Alltel has acknowledged the problem as an internal memory problem. Effective mid-december, any Q having lock up issues may be brought to location of purchase still UNDER 1 YEAR from purchase date for a swap. *A HARD RESET MUST BE PERFORMED to ensure it wasn't a customer-loaded 3rd party app that caused the freeze. If it's the device itself, they should hand you another one.
Mine was dead in the water, and they gave me new one. Holding up ok. Wish they'd make a patch for my 6800 now.
Hope it helps!

Keep holding the center Select key until the device asks you to Master Reset. Choose YES.

Thanks for the replies, I called advanced tech support this weekend so that they would have it on file that I did the master reset. Phone is still freezing up, and I'm going to take it in tomorrow and hopefully not be sent home with a Q.
