Can anyone tell me if they have heard of Alltel service being offered to Northern Indiana. I would really like to go with Alltel but it is not available in Mishawaka which is less than 20 miles from Niles, MI which does have Alltel service.

Unless Alltel can win some upcoming 700mhz licenses, then they won't be expanding into the South Bend market. As it stands right now, Verizon Wireless & Centennial Wireless hold the A & B cellular licenses for that market, and Alltel will only take PCS if the network is already built out, but they refuse to build a PCS network from the ground up. Evn so, not sure if there are any PCS licenses available for northern Indiana. Alltel didn't participate in ...

Yeah a few years ago just the transition from centurytel to alltel the coverage wasn't the best. Now it covers that area extremely well. CenturyTel was bought by Alltel in 2002 and it has been great for the coverage in W. Michigan.

There's still a stretch of I-196 in Allegen County where Alltel needs to improve coverage, as my phone said searching service more than actually having a signal. This was in 2006 when Verizon didn't even have coverage along that interstate in that county. As for the rest of I-94; I won't know as Verizon built out a PCS network from the Indiana/Michigan state line to Kalamazoo, and my phone will pick that up over all. I don't know how to even change the network ov...

I don't know why you've had trouble. Sammy's are the best but they shouldn't be causing you too much trouble.

I've held a call with no issues from the first alltel signal in near the MI stateline on 94 all the way to the roaming network near before Detroit, then it dropped the call to switch to the roamer Sprint. I was just testing it out, luckily a friend also had time to kill, ha. I don't remember 96. I haven't been to Allegan/Holland in a long time. I've been on 131 all the way to grand rapids, great coverage there. Drove from Shipshewana (didn't call till the near stateline fireworks store) to Cadillac. And it was good in Benton Harbor and South Haven last time I went.

Once I get a chance to go into upper Wisconsin, then I can find out if Alltel has a better network there or not. I have heard other Verizon users say that Alltel seems to be built better in Wisconsin. The only area where Verizon overlaps with Alltel in Wisconsin is Appleton, but I would have to change my phone to make Alltel priority, since Verizon moved them down in priority, while moving USCC up in priority (but Verizon will always have priority for Appleton though). I don't know what my next phone will be, but I did not like owning a Motorola, and my brother is skeptical about owning another Motorola himself, since his Motorola V265 quit working just after the warranty ran out. But I have otherwise had good luck with Samsung with the ...
