Hey everyone, I'm a total cell phone nerd and currently own the palm 755p. I have tried every single smartphone alltel offers, but I keep going back to the palm based phones because of the touchscreen and calender setup. And yes, since i'm under contract every phone I buy I pay full retail, I realize its alot of money but its still cheaper than buying heroin or something... I recently tried the HTC touch, and it sucks compared to the 6800, I mean, the touch really sucked. The touchscreen didnt work worth a darn, the keyboard was useless and it smelled like a cheeseburger. I like the size, look and operation of the blackberry, but didnt like the fact it didnt have a touchscreen and that the messaging wasnt threaded. My thumb actually got...

As of my latest asking, Alltel MAY get the BB Curve, and WILL be getting the new-gen Moto Q soon. I seriously doubt Palm will be releasing anything really new for a while, as the company isn't exactly stable at the moment. The HTC Touch isn't a bad device, it just takes some time to become familiar with it. AFAIK, there aren't any new touch screen smartphones on the horizon. I used the 6800 for some time, over the 755p as it was a far more powerful device. The Treo was not that different from my previous Treo 650 a few years ago. My BB 8830 is more stable at the expense of the net browser. Email is stellar! All that being said, I kinda miss my 6800.

So, you are saying that the RIM Curve MAY be coming to alltel. Any idea when?

Negative on the ETA. It is a logical move. I would bet on 2nd quarter.

Not what I heard at a vendor meeting in January. Palm rep. alluded to a new device sometime in the very near future, possible the next quarter of this year. He didn't reveal too much though, just enough to tantalize the senses.

That may be, but they'd be outsourcing for some cash. Palm needs a serious re-working to compete with RIM, HTC, and even Samsung in the smarphone mkt. They simply can't exepct wonderful calender support to sell their products. I'd love to see Palm debut a world-beater (with a REAL new OS), but I'm not holding my breath. They should partner with Linux/LiMo...that'd rule.

Regardless of how they create it there is one in the works.
