Smart phones

Hey guys, I've always been a big user of smart phones, currently I'm using the bb 8830 world edition. (have used windows based before) What I want to know is if there is a way to make your browser so that it is recognized as a computer and not a "mobile" devise. To my knowledge the Iphone is the only one to do this. Is that because of the software? And is Alltel going to release a true multimedia smartphone? (i've played with the touch, not very good for those purposes, even the bb is better in the multi media category than that phone!)

If you get the Touch, download HTC Audio Manager. This is a much more user friendly program as opposed to windows media player.

I think your question is in two parts, so I'll address them individually.
A)The answer, unfortunately, is no. Not yet, at least. The phone's are still recognized as WAP devices on some sites, whereas others don't automatically convert. There isn't a download or setting that can fix this. The RAM and processor speeds on these phones couldn't support the embedded media, flash, java, and other trinkets in a standard-net site. The 8830 has settings to enable embedded media and such, but it slows the phone to a snail's pace. The PPC6800 is the best I've used so far for internet browsing, though it's still no air-card equipped laptop.
B) There are third-paty apps for the media player on your 8830, but they're not leaps and bounds in...

...yeah, I forgot about 3rd party browsers. Opera Mini isn't bad at all; Any IE-type interface is a PITA on the 8830.
