Unless their network really is that small. 🤣

Did he say network wide? no.
It's a bigger network then verizons.

Alltel's network isn't the largest in the US! I have Alltel after switching from Verizon and I regret every moment of it. The TXT service sucks horribly! It sometimes takes 2 hours for my message to get to the person I sent it to, and thats on full service. I'm getting ready to transfer to Kentucky with my job and the places they "claim" to have coverage they don't. It's all roaming agreements with other CDMA carriers. My fiance works with Alltel and in their policy they're not allowed to sign people up that live in Kentucky, because they don't have coverage! They only have licenses in very few places. I went to Alabama to visit family. I did *228 on my cell and guess who's network answered? "Welcome to Verizon Wireless over the ai...

Baloney. For a "cellgeek" you really know very little about this.
Alltel has THE largest owned and operated network in the united states of america by coverage.
Verizon doesn't have licenses everywhere either, neither does att or t-mobile, or sprint. NONE do.
Alltel has the largest native network coverage wise in the US. Bottom line. If you disagree you are misinformed.
The texting thing could be a number of issues. I don't have any problem like that. And neither does anyone I know. Nor has there been any issues with that reported online at all.
These are facts, if you think otherwise, then you deny facts as they stand. Thus making you irrational.

About Alltel
Headquartered in Little Rock, Ark., Alltel has America's largest network - covering more of the country than any other company. In fact, we serve nearly 12 million wireless customers in 35 states. 🤨
eh, I think I'll still switch to a service with good texting and actually covers the whole US, and not just 35 states.

How about u do that and get off our forums, i love when all peeps come on here to do is bitch about coverage and how they are going to leave alltel for another carrier, shut up and do it already, and leave us b

No offense but you are showing a complete lack of knowledge on this.
BTW they don't roam on verizon first in KY, they roam on Sprint first.
Alltel offers cell phone coverage in all the states verizon does. In fact it offers access to more networks then vzw does. Because verizon neg's SIDs in their PRL because they don't want to have to pay for free roaming on that particular network. So instead of getting signal even paid roam you will have no signal at all.
Alltel has a native network in 35 states. What does this mean? They have a license in that many states. The licenses are not given away. In fact you CANNOT get into another state without first getting a license from fcc. Alltel can't do that anymore because the spectrum is ful...

I just want to know something. I honor everybodys info and free speech. But one thing I want to know, if Alltel really does cover more than anybody else, why do they only have 12 million customers, few phones, and #5 on the carrier list? How is that at&t and Verizon have more customers etc? I'm not wanting to exchange fighting words, I believe in free speech. If anybody is a fan of Alltel, thats ok. I'm not going to lay down the fact that I've had a better experience with Verizon, that part is true, but it's still just an opinion. I had more EVDO with Verizon than with Alltel. It may have something to do with the area I live in. But the areas I travel I get better reception with Verizon.

The reason for this is what land is covered. Alltel's population covered is roughly 80-100 million. While Att, verizon, tmobile, sprints is around 250-295 Million.
Alltel doesn't cover the denser population centers. They cover the less dense "wide open spaces". Much of which is not covered by the big 4. That's why they have the largest land covered out of any carrier. For instance. I could put up towers in only the top 100 cities and cover them completly and probably have more customers then Alltel. But still not have as large of a coverage area, because I am only covering the city limits. Not the highways, or the suburbs, not the farmland, etc. It's an extreme but this is only for demonstrative purposes.
