There are a lot of factors.

Overall if you have to choose between VZW and Alltel. Almost every time you are better off with Alltel. Because it's a semi national company with the ability to focus more on there area and better customer service generally. But each situation is different.

So....some questions. What do you use the phone for the most? Maybe prioritize the top 10 uses for you.

Next where are you? General area.

What do most of the people you talk to have? And what do they think about it?

What features do you want most from a phone itself?

You want to add where all will you be going with your phone. Not all carriers have networks built out the same in all areas. ...

If you travel out of your home area I would go with Verizon. Even though alltel claims to have a larger network, it doesn't cover all major cities and traveling areas. They have roaming agreements. I've had experience with both and Verizon is a better choice. If alltel covers your home area and you don't really leave that area alot then it don't really matter. But going state to state I noticed I had better coverage with Verizon, better EVDO coverage too.

Believe me I used to have Alltel...

Alltel Pros:
-good voice prices
-unlimited texting 20 dollars with unlimited web
-cheap phones

Alltel Cons:
-National coverage still has roaming areas
-poor outdated phone selection
-aweful customer service
-horrible to deal with over issues such as warranty replacement, technical problems, etc.
-often poor service, in low areas
-not much EVDO coverage

Verizon Pros
-great phones (especially LGs)
-great discounts on phones
-excellent knowledgable customer service
-National NO ROAMING AT ALL coverage
-a lot of EVDO coverage
-unlimited texting 10 dollars+
-New EVERy two (50-100) dollar credit on a phone after two years
-Free Contact backup (backup assistant)

Verizon Cons
- all ...

That is wrong. EVDO, verizon does not have more.

Roaming....only an issue for about 3 percent of the us.

Customer service is not terrible. That is a stupid comment.

Phones are good enough. They have the top ones, just because they don't have the latest middle range ones doesn't mean it's terrible selection.

Often poor service my AZZ. Do you even know what a cell phone is? I mean honestly only an idiot could say that if they knew anything about the carriers at all.

Bottom line.

If you want to pay a LOT more for service and the very latest phone selection pick verizon.

If you want as good and most of the time better coverage and a couple of the top phones for one of if not THE best prices in wireless. Pick alltel.

This...

I was a Verizon customer for almost 4 years, switched to Alltel and HATED it, and switched back to Verizon and liked it alot more than the first time around. If you want better, more reliable national coverage choose Verizon. There is a reason Verizon has more customers than Alltel and one reason is because its better service. I'm not saying this because I'm a Verizon customer, but I finally bit my lip and switched to Alltel, and now I have personal experience to go by, Verizon is the best! When I had problems with Alltel's phone service, like failed call connections and crappy txt messaging, all Alltel could say was ...did you do *228 or did you reset your phone?... ok, whatever. It didn't work. And even if I have like one bar on my p...

You cannot base an ENTIRE NATIONWIDE network on your very limited experience. That is ludicrous. Living in fake land is saying one carrier is better then the other in every way every where, like you.

I'm sick of idiot people that know absolutely nothing about wireless coming on these boards and talking about it like they actually have experience. Verizon IS NOT better the Alltel everywhere. There maybe a few problem areas here and there. JUST LIKE Verizon has a few problem areas here and there. Cell phone coverage is like politics it's all local.

BTW The reason verizon has more customer is because they have licenses in bigger cities. It has nothing to do with quality of service. In most areas where Alltel AND Verizon are present Allte...

What about the pink, orange and yellow pills? I want to try them. Or better yet, how about we take all the pills at one time and see what happens?

Funny, I thought this was a cell phone forum and not a narcotics site.

Oh wait, that was an analogy? Oops, my bad. Shoulda used a better analogy to get your point across I guess.

Ok,

Alltel Cons:
-National coverage still has roaming areas- I have traveled from NWFL to Memphis, through MS, AL, NC, VA, WV, PA to NY not once have I been billed one single minute for roaming. I use my phone, people call i talk. I am not afraid to use my phone at any time.
-poor outdated phone selection- They may not be the newest phones but as of today we only have 2 or 3 phones that are less then stellar.
-aweful customer service- i think you mean 'awful' but keep in mind that not all reps know everything. Please tell me the give "Training on Perfection" at Verizon.
-horrible to deal with over issues such as warranty replacement, technical problems, etc.- whats the problem? If it's a true warranty issue then we will get you ano...
