700WX - Outdated, unstable, and slow.

HTC Touch/6800 - I own the 6800, and use it as my toy phone. Had the Touch for about 12hrs, and returned it for another 6800.
Both these phones run WinMo 6, meaning that a soft reset will be necessary fairly often. This will not hurt your device or delete any information. Both are very good for web browsing. Reception strength isn't the best. The 2MP camera is nice, as is the responsive touch screen. Battery life is adequate for a phone sporting a large processor and touch screen, but degrades to poor when usingb Bluetooth for extended periods of time. The most I've seen from mine is 1.5 days nunder moderate to heavy use. Both phones run office mobile pro, though an update is required off Mic...

Ptq06,

I read all you wrote for both the HTC and the Blackberry and if I'm getting the right idea, overall the BB is a better choice if youre looking to use it for business and for actually making phones and the HTC is better if youre looking around for something to play with.
My main question is how is the reception and overall plain phone function of the HTC and the BB. The samsung u520 I have as a regular phone sounds terrible on the receiving end and it is annoying. Its got good features for a regular phone so Im hanging on to it til I get a smartphone but the reception is poor. Im 23 and there is no reason why I should keep saying "huh? whatd you say?" every other sentence...im not going deaf. My girl's plain RAZR sounds much muc...

sounds to me like you should end up with the curve BB.
I have touch and BB8830 now - love both. the touch has great reception and after I downloaded the new ROM version works even better. I only use the blackberry for email and work. The Curve will be the new social networking phone and does work very well - i set one up yesterday. A WM user is a totally different person than a BB user - you'll need to decide how big of a tech person you are - the more tech the more you'll lean to the touch instead of the blackberry.

Birdman,

If a customer walked up looking for a smartphone, and didn't have a specific usage type, I'd steer them in the direction of the BlackBerry.

On the subject of call quality: The 8830 has a VERY sensitive mic which has been known to pick up voice very well, as well as some background ambiance. Though it is sensitive, overall quality is great. The BB's speakerphone is fantastic. My 8830's ringtone volume is poor (this is a known issue on the 8830), though the 8330 Curve is supposedly unaffected.
The 6800 scores very well in call quality. The mic isn't overly sensitive, but I have not heard any complaints from those on the other side of the speaker. Speakerphone is decent, but does not handle voice as well as the BlackBe...

thank you, you seem to know what you are talking about... i have been working as a call center rep for a month now or so and i think you just gave me a new sales pitch. i really like the palm and if i get a blackberry it would be either the curve or the world edition one. the htc just seems to cheap , it is audiovox with a differnt name and if i get one i would get the one that is not the touch. it there any version of flash out for smart phones yet

there is some flash out there, and Wm 6.1 works great that i have used, HTC will not be outdated any time soon, I love my 6800 Wifi & EVEO Rev. A, you can't beat it, slide out full qwerty keyboard. If you really want to see a glimpse of what you can do with the 6800. head on over to

My wife has the touch and loves it, the main issue i have with BB is when the BB network crashes. so does your phone.

tblainem,
The 6800 feels cheap only because of the battery door. It's rather flimsy, but it's a small price to pay for the functionality. The Touch feels wonderful in the hand, if not sexy. As Ducati427 said, there are flash bundles floating around. Visit the ppgeeks.com forums, and search for "full youtube on 6800". That should pull up the info you're looking for. Supposedly HTC is releasing a new version of Flash for their devices, but it will be some time before we see the utility we've become accustomed to in the PC world.
I'd go for the Curve over the 8830WE if I were you. Same functionality in a more ergonomic body, and a decent camera. The only thing I dislike about it, are the rubbery keys with the white surface area; They...

one thing i do love about the 6.1 OS is the threaded SMS, can you tell me if when the BB network crashes does your phone still work as it should and only drop email support or what? I'm a bit lost by all that part.. Maybe ill pu a curve on my next upgrade.
