Advice need for smart phone and new carrier
I have concerns about Alltel coverage in Wisconsin, so if anyone has firsthand knowledge I would like to hear from you.
I really don't want to be locked into a 2 year contract so I am considering buying a BB 8703e off eBay to use. I don't need a camera phone, but I do need something very durable and I have heard the 8703e is good for that. Is there any reason why I should not go with tha...

*Things T-mobile has that alltel Lacks*
-Family Texting Plan. (19.99 for unlimited family members)
-(A big one) NATIONWIDE LONG DISTANCE. NO ROAMING FEES.
-GSM; alltel uses the CDMA network which has less coverage. GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) can be used in many places around the world.
-Along with this, GSM uses SIM Cards, which allow you to buy unlocked phones- from a cheap refurbished to an unlocked iPhone.
-Smartphone as regular phone. With alltel, you must commit to a smartphone plan, costing at least 30 bucks, to us...

not a bad plan if you ask me, includes unlimited txt and your nights and weekends start at 7. I have used alltel all over my state with no fees will be traviling to NC and should have no problem either. I would like to see hard data that sprint has the fastest network out there. Also i have yet to lose coverage on my CDMA network, GSM is usable over seas but who cares if you arn't going over there. It all depends on who has what you have and the best price for those things you want.
Great things about Alltel:
-ANYTIME RATE PLAN CHANGES... we won't extend your contract
- AMERICA'S LARGEST NETWORK CDMA is great, AND if you are planning on traveling overseas... only major benefit from GSM, The 8830 World Edition is PERFECT for you!
- MY CIRCLE Would you enjoy 20 FREE numbers on top of Unlimited Nights and Weekends and Unlimited Alltel to Alltel calling?
- We cover 93% of the country WITHOUT Roaming charges, and if you are in that 7% that is considered "roaming", we have a Free to Roam feature to cover you as well.
Alltel is a Great company, and an excellent choice as a Carrier!
T-mobile has cool stuff too, like Catherine Zeta Jones and clear reception.. well, as...

That's the problem with forums, too many douchebags trying to make fun of other people. Keep working on that self-esteem there, maybe one day you won't have to make comments like that. Oh I'm sorry have you not taken your Mydol yet?
3 things on this:
Where did I make fun of you in my post?? Are you upset about the "free time" comment?
I find it interesting that you seem so upset about a "douchebag in a forum" commmenting on your long post, yet you attempted to insult me on a greater level of my comment... who is the REAL "douchebag"??
What is Mydol?

GSM does not have more coverage in the US. Where it matters. Reception WILL be lacking with t-mobile because they have the weakest native coverage out of the top 7 carriers.
I can agree on T-Mobile's coverage, as they tend to avoid most rural communities, especially if it's a rural county with no major interstate or highway. What Pwnies forgot to bring up is that in some rural areas, Alltel is the only GSM roamer, as T-Mobile has refused to build out a network in most of rural America, and AT&T has limited coverage in Rural America with their PCS only areas.
T-mobile offers some interesting things, but I travel East of Green bay to Kewaunee and Door county and there coverage map show no coverage, so T-mobile is not an option.

you DO NOT want TMO if you travel anywhere north of Milwaukee!!!!!!!
I've heard T-Mobile has just as bad of a PCS network as Sprint, and even worse PCS network than Verizon Wireless in Milwaukee. I've had good luck with Verizon Wireless in Milwaukee (only in Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee, and Waukesha counties for where I traveled), though Verizon is better in Chicago from my experience. I don't know many people in Milwaukee with anyone other than AT&T & USCC. I always felt like a minority with Verizon Wireless in Milwaukee.

Oh, well then i don't know what the best choice would be. Tmo gets decent coverage here on the west coast, but i don't know about over there
I live in the Gary Indiana area, and T-Mobile still has too many holes in their network. USCC has a somewhat better PCS network, though they still have a ways to go as well, since it was originally Primeco. As for roaming, T-Mobile relies too much on Centennial Wireless in most of Northern Indiana, and one county I travel through (Benton County Indiana), a T-Mobile phone is a paperweight, due to no native network, and don't allow roaming on AT&T. Only AT&T & USCC have service in that county.
I have carried that phone and it is great, I now carry the 8830 world and I LOVE that phone.
The trackball is easier on the thumbs then the scroll wheel, and it has BlackBerry Maps.
Check the price on the 8703e first, because it may be worth your while to get the 8830 or a Curve.
Also, keep in mind that you have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee on smartphones. If you get one and do not like it, simply return it for the other one. 😉
