help!! any alltel reps out there??
Long story short.. My great nephew - 6th grade - saved and saved to buy a krzr. He finally gets enough money & we get a refurb one for him. We go to alltel to have it activated and get this story about a strong possibility that it won't seek the alltel towers and we will have roaming charges that alltel won't credit back because it isn't an alltel purchased phone eventhough we are on a nationwide program.
Is this true? How can it be?
Thanks
Mary

Mary is this an alltel phone or is it from another network?

Thanks for your reply!! When I turn the phone on, it says alltel.

If it really does that then you won't get roaming charges. It has to download the latest PRL file...

Yeah just *228 your phone...that way you shouldnt get any roaming charges. The alltel rep u were talking to was probably a noob. Ive seen roaming charges credited many times as long as you were in an area that was supposed to be covered by alltel.

Either a noob, or a shady rep who wanted to sell her a phone she didn't need...
Anyway, as long as it's an Alltel-branded phone (meaning it has Alltel's logo in the startup animation and [usually] on the body of the phone), you should be just fine.

sckoisks17 is right about the alltel-branded phone - as long as it starts up with alltel your good.
We can always flash upgraded firmware, just make sure that is up to date and *228 for PRL -🙂 you can just do the ESN change over the phone unless you doing a new add - better to visit the store for that one.
