ALLTEL Mississippi
For those customers that live in major cities like the Jackson metro area. You best bets for good service.
Alltel would be my first choice. the coverage is great, 3G speeds are awesome. phones are cool even given the lock down on bt ringtones.
Verizon is a good choice, though the service only works well in the cities. awesome phones though. 3G is awesome here too.
Sprint works well here too. though don't lokk for customer service around Jackson, you will be ready to punch the sales rep.
Cellular South works good if you can deal with phones that suck and the terms of the plans. read your plan details before you decide...

That's because of the big EVDO agreement Alltel signed with Sprint, and it makes Sprint the primary roamer outside of the Alltel network. But remember that Sprint doesn't work everywhere. No one works everywhere. And that even means Alltel and Verizon.

Just that the reasoning behind switching to cell south and us cellular as roaming partners over alltel was for corporate/political reasons and not coverage considerations. Lucky for Alltel customers there is both Sprint and Verizon available as roaming partners still.
On the Verizon side, I don't know if Cellular South was always the preferred roamer for Mississippi, or Alltel. But yeah, the roaming agreement Alltel signed with Sprint caused Verizon to eliminate, or reduce roaming on Alltel. I know in the Appleton Wisconsin area, USCC got moved up in priority for in-market roaming (Verizon's native network still gets priority), whereas before, Alltel had prio...
