Samsung Hue vs LG Muziq vs LG AX-275 vs Samsung My Shot

My family is going to be switching to Alltel because we cannot get decent reception in our area with AT&T. After researching phones on Phone Scoop, I've narrowed it down to these four. Because we live in a very rural area in north central Missouri, having a phone that gets good reception is very important.

My husband wants a phone that he can use to make and receive calls; the simpler, the better. My teenage daughter prefers flip phones, and wants one that has all the bells & whistles. She loves taking pictures and does a lot of texting. I want a phone that has good call quality and a camera. If it has more goodies, that's fine. But basically I want to use it for making calls.

How do these phones compare on reception, call quality, ...

The Musiq is the better out of those and I would put the 275 over the my shot as well.

The best phones you can get are still the Motorola's the RAZR 2 v9m and the ROKR are good. Although the RAZR 2 is a little more stable software wise. Both are good. I would stay away from the RAZR V3a though. The Moto W315 is a good very basic phone as well. The K1m KRZR is very good, the Hue and Muse are pretty good as well. Hue seems to be a little better quality overall though....but they are very close.

I have had experience with many of Alltel's phones and I would say LG and maybe Samsung are the way to go. Their Motorola phones are not really worth it. The V9m is overpriced for what it can do, and its battery life is quite bad thanks to its ridiculously large screens and thin profile. The ROKR Z6m is basically the same as the V9m except it is a slider which is very bad because the phone and its one screen are always exposed and can be very easily damaged.

I would say to look at the LG 275 or LG 300 for you and your husband, or maybe even the Samsung Muse which has good call quality and a nice camera. The Samsung Hue should be ok for a camera and good call quality. For your daughter I would say the Muziq is the way to go. It is priced...

Ok it looks like you dont want to spend alot of money on the phones so I dont know why these ppl are talking about razr 2's or krzrs or even the rokr. If you are looking for a durable and reliable phone pick the hue. I dont know how many of these I have sold and they never come back. Great phone for the price. Not sure if they are still on BOGO since I am on vacation but none the less the price is great for everyone in the family. Interchangable faceplates, micro sd card slot, camera, Bluetooth, and MP3 player. Trust me go with this phone. LG 275 is a horrilbe phone. You will not be happy w/ it. Will not last the entire 2 yrs of a contract due to software problems. Only phones I recommend that alltel carries are....Hue, Krzr, LG scoop,...

They didn't specify a price. So I listed the good phones, which those are. The hue, muse, musiq, etc. While good phones, drop more calls then the motorola's do. It's just a matter of fact and RF ability.

The Motorola's are still better as phones then the others.

If you want to spend a 99 cents on a phone. Then don't get mad when it stops working half way through your contract. The motorolas are still overall the best in quality and ability.

The Muse and Hue are good alternatives, but still can't beat out a motorola in reception. I know this first hand as I have used almost every phone in the Alltel lineup with the exception of the myshot, snap (didn't even bother), and ax145. The problem is, with all the cheap end phones. They just change the color, or change the look slightly and rebrand it as a new phone. It is still the same as the one you saw in there two years ago for 99 cents.

Overall you'd be better served finding a muse, h...

Many thanks to all of you who responded to my question.

Based on the advice I've received in this forum, plus the user reviews on Phone Scoop, I'll probably go with the Hue or the Muziq for my phone when I sign up with Alltel. I've had Motorola phones in the past and they've been O.K., but lately have heard negatives about their CDMA phones...even the KRZR. The KRZR also received lower user review scores than the other phones did, which is a concern.

Our family plan with AT&T runs out at the end of this month and we're using the 2-week period before then to test out Alltel's service. If we like it, then we'll change to a family plan with Alltel, port our numbers over, and cancel with AT&T. Judging from your responses, we will have seve...

I think you will find that you have chosen wisely. Motorola, even though higher priced, really isn't beter than the LG and Samsung models that have the same features. Alltel has quality service and i'm sure you'll enjoy it.

By the way, letstalk.com has better deals on Alltel phones than the actual Alltel website. They are actually offering the Muziq for free right away plus a 100.00 mail in rebate, so they are basically paying you 100.00 to get the phone. They have similar good deals with most of the other phones that you are intersted in, plus you can port your numbers over through them, and they offer free and fast shipping. I don't work for them, I just recommend their great prices and service.
