Alltel and VZW Agents, What is in it for us Alltel Agents Merging In?

alltelagent

Jul 12, 2008, 4:05 PM
This thread is for Alltel and VZW owners, Indirects, Agents and Employee's only.

What is in it for us Alltel Agents Merging Into VZW, When this happens?

Or, What is in it for VZW? What will they take from Alltel and Implement into VZW?

Although, somethings may be speculation, hopefuly you have good sources and news to help us all. I think that this transition will be great for all of us.

Saying we don't get forced by FCC into buyout from another carrier so we don't create a Monopoly.

Give it about two weeks...there will probably be some answers, which will in turn lead to more questions that can't be answered yet...

Then why are we being directed to inform customers that it is a merger? As far as Agents go, we aren't being "bought".

Ummm, your being bought.

Per, NY Times:
"Verizon Communications agreed on Thursday to buy Alltel for about $28.1 billion, including the assumption of debt, creating the nation’s largest cellular telephone provider."

& a merger is the same as a buy-out. Merger sounds better, but they mean the exact same thing. Its like saying were not fat, we are rotund, or Jolly. hahahaha. Did you sleep through economics class? no disstiction between Mergers & Acquisitions...money, or stock options are traded for control of the company in either case.

Should also mention, redundancies in staff will be dealt with by severing Alltel agents, as VZ agents are trained to support the larger portion of the customer base better, the smaller portion of customers(alltel) will be forced over to the VZ plans & phones to compensate the redundancy. most estimates would suggest 25-30% of CSR will go. and IT will be migrated, or cut as the alltel cusotmer base moves to VZ shrinking the need for alltel staff.

Not likely as we are out performing both the Alltel and Verizon corporate stores in most of our markets. Nice try though. To contradict the BS you are wont to post, it has already been confirmed that Alltel customers will NOT be forced into Verizon plans provided they have existing contracts, nice try again. Have you read the Alltel Agent contract? If Verizon were to force a conversion to their branding they would absorb the costs, and if they forced us out of business they would be the target of quite a few lawsuits. Add the fact that Alltel is adding additional agent stores, we just added an additional 6, at the behest of upper management and it's pretty plain that you are a Verizon fanboy intent upon riling people up. Doesn't work f...

Well, whatever makes you feel warm inside.

You stated:
"it has already been confirmed that Alltel customers will NOT be forced into Verizon plans provided they have existing contracts, nice try again"

Yet, the merger has not gone through the DOJ, r the SEC, so such confirmations could be made--since they get the say so of how markets are divested, and must prepare an economic analysis of the acquisition. Does it anger you I am an economist, who worked with the Cingy/AWE merger? As for you degree...did you know you stared about 4 sentences with prepositions? You started one with a cliche, also. Is your degree a public high school diploma?

Bad keyboard? You seem to be leaving letters of left and right. Don't call me out of minor grammatical errors when you have scores of typos.

You are keen to portray your speculations as fact, but when I provide you with something that is more concrete you point out that it hasn't been seen to by various regulatory bodies. Nice.

It doesn't anger me that you were a part of that merger, I was a support manager for Cingular at that point, and a support manager for AT&T thereafter. It was actually one of the cleanest mergers I've seen, so if you were involved in that congratulations.

I do have a High School Diploma, but I only minored in English Literature. I fail to see how your ad hominem attack has any relevance to the Alltel/Ver...

As for more concrete proof;

A little more than just speculation as our customers have been receiving them for quite a while now. No it's your turn to post proof of your speculation.

Thats exactly how the Cingy/AWE merger was handled.

All upgrades & new phones for AWE customers were required to get a cingular plan/phone. But if they wished to remain under their binding AWE service agreement they could.

middle section of that one.

So, as I said...they will not be able to keep their Alltel plans indefinitely. They will honor the contract. However, the contract does not guarantee phones, only service so when the merger competes, alltel phones will be no more. So my circle is available...but the LG-****, or whatever CDMA phones are out there will not be available. So the customer must choose VZ phone & Servic...

You obviously do not realize that Alltel operates a CDMA digital network as well. Alltel and Verizon for years have shared alot of the same phone models with the only real difference being the software. For example the LG likes to name Verizon models VX-XXXX Alltel models AX-XXXX the VX and AX designating the models. The networks for both companies are alreay compatible. After all you do know that Alltel and Verizon had a landmark roaming agreement signed for use of the CDMA digital towers. Both companies are basically sister companies that finally want to become one company. Why do you think rumors of t...

You won't reply because you were proven wrong. I didn't say that they could stay on those plans indefinitely, and you didn't stipulate that you meant that they would have to change after their contract expired. You simply stated that Alltel customers would be FORCED to Verizon phones and service, which isn't true. You were wrong.

You assume far too much; you assume that Verizon is willing to deal with the heaps of lawsuits and severance costs associated with wiping away Alltel Agents. What you don't know is that plans are already being implemented to convert Alltel Agents into Verizon Agents. You assume that Scott Ford is being -fired-, when in fact the Alltel brand is being consumed wiping away the purpose of having an Alltel CEO, w...

Verizon has a Freedom for Business plan where they are allowed to call their landlines and other #s without using their minutes (similar to My Circle)

I would figure since they've come up with something like that, they will come up with something like that for all VZW consumers.

But that's really just speculation from what I have read. Why not? ya know?

That's all I have, sorry ☹️

There is no way that verizon is going to "fire" all alltel reps. The only thing I am concerned about is all the indirect reps where I leave. In the town I live in (good size town) there is two indirect verizon companies, and one CP store. Totaling four verizon stores in this town. There is one CP Alltel store here, and about one indirect store........ on every block. Really, this town is not big enough for all those stores.
Verizon is not a dumb company by any means. The benifits, and pay is very good. Actually the last time I looked, they paid better then any other cellular company. Of course things may have changed since I looked last.

P.S. I do not major in english, so I hope you all don't mind the grammer and spelling issues I may h...
