How much longer before Verizon takes over????

I'm in the middle of my two-year contract with Alltel, and I want to pick up a new V9m for considerably less than $500 bucks. My V3m got a little wet a while back, but it still works just fine. I have a feeling it'll short out on me when I least expect it. I checked with Alltel direct here in Charlottesville yesterday, and they are replacing the V3m for insurance claims with V3a's...yuck!

When Verizon takes over, if history is a factor when Alltel bought out Cellular One (the CDMA company, not he GSM), people could upgrade in the middle of the contract if they wanted to do so. As nice as the My Circle is, for my purposes, it ain't that big a deal, and most of my friends have Verizon anyhow.

If anyone knows how soon this is all su...

Well considering the buyout won't close until early 2009, and then how many markets such as mine where Alltel and VZ are the only carriers to choose from.. the whole of wyoming is that way, how many assets they'll have to divest to make it legal, how long it will be for another company to buy those assets, and how long it'll take them to develop and open locations in the overlapped markets... I'm gonna ball park guess about mid 2010. But in all honesty, nobody knows and still way to early to speculate.

God I hate that question. Do people really think that the exec's share all the info with us, the "little people"? It's probably the first thing they do: "hey retail employee of company X, you will be bought out by Company Y on this date and you will lose your job along w/ 1000's of other employees just like you, that will happen on this date. Plans will change to this, we will take away that....if possible we are gonna try to piss off all of the customers in this area. Please don't tell anyone. Have a great day."

WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING. I'd be willing to bet that 99.9% of the people on here don't know anything either. Quit asking.

Maybe you know, or maybe you don't...but what you can't do, if you did know, is talk about it on an internet forum.... 👀

T mobile finished the acquisition of suncom in Feb and look they still ahve not merged and taken over. Hell suncom is still selling service. So even when its done you still have months until they integrate.

Also they may be required to do too much by the FCC they it is not worth it to them to do it. However I doubt that highly but it is a possibility!

Right. AT&T bought out Dobson how long ago? Like last year in December or something. And my area of Michigan is still Dobson and not AT&T. Sure the AT&T stores sell the service but the towers are still Dobson towers. Dobson didn't stop selling service in some stores until a few months ago.

But I believe if the acquisition does get approved, and you will be in an area that won't be divested, you can go into a Verizon store and port your number without a termination fee on your Alltel account. That's what happened with my family with the Dobson/AT&T merger.

your off your rocker they don't replace the v3m with the v3a i work for corp alltel they are usually replacing it with a k1m3 krazor or the lg ax565 or the good old refurbished phones v3m from asurion ! You can always file the claim over the phone and pay the fee to get the new one over the phone and they will mail you a v3m razor.
