Battery Life - Hue vs KRZR

I'm within my 15 day trial period with Alltel and have been disappointed with the battery life of this phone.

We live in a rural area in Missouri on the fringe of Alltel's service area. I selected the phone because it was reputed to have good call quality and the ability to pull in weak signals. I believe that it does...we actually can use the phone inside our house, whereas with AT&T we could not. However, I got less than 24 hours battery life with the phone. I only made a few brief phone calls, no texting, no internet, and only a couple of photos.

When I talked to my service rep she said that we probably won't get great battery life with any phone because of the area we live in. The battery is being drained because the phone is worki...

Well, I can tell you two things. CDMA phones tend to drain batteries faster than GSM phones. And with you living in a fringe area, your phone has to work harder to get signal. So with just those two things, your battery is going to drain faster than normal. If you were to have full service, you would notice a big difference. I know that Motorola's tend to have good battery life but that could be with just GSM ones. In my opinion, I would get an LG CDMA phone.

1. I'm not sure.

2. If you live in an area with weaker signal/in and out signal then yes batteries drain faster.

3. The k1m is better than the Hue. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't know what they are talking about. Reception is better, quality is better. Phonescoop is not necessarily the best source for this kind of info. A lot of people have no idea how to rate phones. With the k1m you can also get the BT51 battery and still fit it in the slim battery door. That should help a little with it as well because it comes with the BT50 standard.

I do not recommend LG for weak signal areas at all.

Also.....you shouldn't just leave a phone on over night. The best thing to do is to charge it during that time. Or pretty much whenever you are not using it and are at home.

Phones are not meant to go very long without charging. Two days is a high average. Assuming you actually use the phone at all and for more then just emergencies.

Go with a quality LG phone. Better for signal and a little better for battery life. The KRZR is kind of junk IMO. Why go with a phone that is old and discontinued by pretty much everyone?

The LGs do not get good signal. The best one they have is a small notch below the Hue for reception. Battery life maybe though.

It's not junk, if it's old and not worth it why does it still match every over phone in features and specs. K1m>and LG Alltel currently has. The glimmer is close, but RF still doesn't beat the k1m.

The only sammy's that come close are the muse and maybe the Hue.

Remember just because it came out after doesn't mean it's better.

They still haven't beat the E815 in total performance. Add a mini USB port and new mp3 software they could sell it today as a premier phone.

Alltel is suppose to be getting a new version of the KRZR in the next few months. "VE20". That'd be worth a look although it is while awa...

Thank you for your responses to my question. Just wondering...do you have a KRZR, and how long have you used it?

I personally have a bias towards Motorola phones. My current phone phone is a V190 (AT&T) and I've had no trouble with it for the past 2 years. Before that I had a V265 (Verizon) and don't remember too many problems with it, although as it got older the battery life was bad and the camera was never good.

Based on the consumer reviews (Phone Scoop, CNET, Phonedog.com) it seems like people love the phone in the beginning, and then have problems with battery life, the phone breaking, and software glitches 6 months to a year into their service contract. When it's working it gets great reviews. But from what I've been reading, it...

Yes I have one. I've used it for about one year. Only bad thing about it is the middle circle button on the d-pad. It can get loose when it's hot outside. (but my phone has been used quite heavily). Once in a while (i tether to my computer for internet sometimes) the phone has reset and restarted automatically. But it was fine right afterward. Those are literally the only problems I've had.

If you do get it is really worth it to get the BT51 battery to maximize your battery power without losing and form factor. But battery usage is very unique for each person. Depending on usage, signal strength in the areas that you use it, even where you don't use it. It's kind of hard to pinpoint.

Thank you for your response. It's helpful to hear from someone who has actually used this phone for a longer period of time.

My husband is now carrying the Hue we got from Alltel and this week my daughter and I will get our new phones and port our numbers over from AT&T. I'll probably take a good look at the KRZR for me.

Thanks again!
