its just all about endurance. going between 100-200mph depending on the track for about 2.5 hours.
nascar actually does do a couple road courses, which are also great to watch. the sprint cup series does Infineon in cali and Watkins Glen in ny. the nationwide does Watkins Glen and also an F1 track in Montreal.

I live next to the Michigan International Speedway. I work for the health department on race weekends, I'm pretty much sick of NASCAR.
But the noise is amazing. I remember the first time I actually went up to the track, I stood right in the front row with my supervisor and we watched the care come around. The noise that the engines make is overpowering, I loved it.

Sprint, when they agreed to sponsor the Cup series in 2004, imposed a rule that no other wireless carrier may sponsor a race or car in the series. Alltel and Cingular were grandfathered in, since they were already there by then, and AT&T fought a hard battle to keep the #31 sponsorship once they re-absorbed Cingular. Once the merger is complete, Verizon will probably have to fight the same battle AT&T did if they want to sponsor the #12. I've heard rumors that Caterpillar is moving to the #12 from the Bill Davis #22 next year, though, so I don't think we'll be seeing a Verizon car next year.

Newman will be racing for another team next year. Cat will be going to the 31. Att lost the battle and agreed mid season last year that 08 woudl be the end for the att sponsorship. once they start changing the logos to VZW then it's going to be a battle. One i am sure they won't win.
