I'm a longtime VZW customer but I have a vacation home in Alltel territory. 0 bars on my phone.
After the deal is closed will I get a signal on my Verizon phone immediately or after some time? Likely time frame? Days...weeks?

And will I need to first go have my phone updated?

That depends on a lot of factors. It's possible that verizon has the sid neg'd in their PRL. Where area is this?

I am in Lake County Ohio about 25 - 30 miles east of cleveland.

what does it mean for me will I can tell you that the only service that works here in my home is Alltel. So what happens t the Alltel tower here?

I had verizon just a month ago and it gets a half bar to none in the reception department and none in the house.

So what are my options here I can tell you that AT & T doesnt work here either and neither does Sprint.

I have to follow the alltel tower adn if it leaves I am in trouble.

Does anyone know how soon all this is going to actually take place. does anhyone know how soon we will become VZW? will VZW be making us deals on new phones any ideas here?

Thanx In Advance

the tower wont leave, costs way to much to have them. So whether we stay alltel, verizon or another carrier takes over they take the tower as well which means you will get service. no worries there.

I guess I should have made myself clear but what I meant was that whoever takes over that tower is where I will end up.

What is really frustrating is how secretive it all is I would love to know who is getting who i thought that since the Judge is letting VZW have the 22 Old GTE markets I automatically thought that we were all going to VZW and now some say no that is not the case.

I just dont like uncertainty like not knowing who my cell phone provider may be next week or next month or whatever

Yep right now I believe Verizon doesn't allow roaming in market with the Cleveland SID (21). Your area was part suppose to be part of a separate trust hold. But a judge ruled in favor of verizon there. So once the merger is complete you should have access to Alltel's towers. But it all depends on how soon vzw pushes a new PRL file onto your phone to allow you access it. Eventually the SIDs will be merged as well.
