WM6 - Not able to do text messages?

I was just reading in some other threads - are Windows Mobile phones not able to send text messages?? I was under the impression that they were?

Please advise - this may make me back down from Windows Mobile!

Of course it can send text. If its WM 6.1 it would even be threaded.
