how often should the typical android be hard reset?
At my job, I only talk to people that have problems, so it seems like I am hard resetting androids all day, everyday. I am tempted to tell my customers to eventually expect to have to do a hard reset (not a good idea, I know).
I only use apps from the Market. And my browser only visits news sites, netflix and here.g

You should never need to do a hard reset because of performance. If this is the case, the cause of your performance degradation is more likely related to your app cache's growing too large or simply running out of internal NAND memory room (ROM space), and NAND works best when less than 70% capacity.
You can fix this without doing a hard rest by deleting unused apps, or going into app manager, selecting individual apps, and clearing their cache at the very least, and their data as a whole at the most.
