Which Android manufacturers have the least trouble with bugs?

I keep reading comments from androiders complaining about their phones crashing and rebooting without warning, etc. This has to be a software issue, eh?

So who consistantly makes an android that is stable and reliable? Do I need to root the thing to get rid of bloat in order to acheive stability? Or do I have to get last year's model to get mature software?

Thanks, Hobble. I appreciate your input, again! I think being able to mod my Android will be an important feature for me. An HTC phone is looking more and more like the right choice.

These open platforms verses closed systems (including the iPhone) reminds me of the mid-eighties battle between the PC and Mac. We were able to build PCs, modify the Bios, choose operating systems, and apps. Every PC could be quite different.

Being able to shape your Android to work the way you choose is powerful and intoxicating! -Like rebuilding a muscle car, without the grease under the finger nails.

HTC is awesome, especially for Android. Top developers tend to get HTC phones, so they get better hacking and developing support.

As well, HTC tends to do a better job, IMHO, out of the box making a great, bug free Android device. There is no such things as 100% bug free, though, given these really are just small computers with very large and complex operating systems. Even the iPhone has plenty of bugs and glitches.

Thanks IrishCarBomb,

You (and Hobble) have convinced me! Now I just have to muster up enough discipline to hold out until HTC releases a dual core LTE device! (Maybe the Vigor?)

No one company has the perfect phone. Everything has it's downfall. But, HTC is the best at what it does. Being in the smartphone business from the beginning, they have the lowest return rate/ least amount of problems with their devices.
They are, imo, the BEST phone manufacturer out there.
