Nokia 6100 vs 6610

So here's the deal; my wife has the 6100 and i have the 6610. I have T-Mobile and get amazing reception. When i put my sim card in to her phone however, I get sub-par reception. Both phones are tri-band and support the same frequencies (900, 1800, 1900) and I know that T-Mobile uses only the 1900mhz network. So why then does a phone that supports the same frequency have worse reception?

Hey there....

If all you are looking for is decent features with great battery life and great reception stick with the 6610... it's the best most reliable phone I've ever owned.

I have the 6610 and it truly is the best phone I've ever owned. But the question still remains; Why does the 6610 get better reception than the 6100 even though they support the same frequencies (900, 1800 & 1900)??

as I mentionend, personally I think it is the antenna of the phones. Some nokia antennas are stronger than others. I can't explain why, but this has always been my experience. If your Nokia 6610 ever gives out, the Nokia 6200 is also another solid model. (Plus Cingular and AT&T Wireless replaced the 6100 with the 6200 phone)

It depends on the phone's technology. I really can't explain it, but I have a Nokia 6200IM phone unlocked on T-Mobile To-Go and my lovely momma uses the Nokia 3120 on Cingular and I have better signal on the 6200. (I did put my SIM card in the 3120 and I still get more bars with the 6200.)

By the way, I hear that the 6610 is an awesome phone. Nokia doesn't make them like they used to. I think the best models are the 6200, 6610, 6800, 6820, and the 3120 even though the 3120 doesn't have as good of signal strength.

I love Nokia phones!
