There is a lot of info in this forum about Cingular's handling of the situation, but so far AT&T is in denial. I've reported regular problems with this phone to AT&T (same problems as reported by others) and AT&T's only suggestion is to replace it with a used version of the same phone. Duh! If it is a recall by Moto, we'll see who has the last laugh!

Its a cingular recall not a motorola recall. Go to the cingular forum do a search and you can get the information.

It's not a recall, we simply are not carrying the phone anymore. There is an issue with the moto v600 850Mhz band that according to moto, affects less than 1% of the users. Cingular asked Moto for an estimated replacement timeframe for corrected models, the timeframe Moto gave was unacceptable so Cingular decided to drop the V600 from its lineup but it is not a recall.

Doesn't matter what it is called. From what I was told am getting a new v600 series phone. Thats all I care abouty. My choice was to accept a v400 interim phone then a v600 in the fall or wait until I get a v600.I have a newly installed Bluetooth installed in my BMW M3 and chose to put up with the v600.

If you want I can do like when BMW replaced my engine and call it a "service action". Actually if you want to be precise a recall is a legal term and a "service action" is courtesy.

Just wanted to set the record straight on this.

I work for Motorola and no, there is no recall. Cingular will still be selling their inventories of the feature-packed v600. There was a slight RF issue with one of the bands so some markets were affected but the phone still meets industry specs. This is a small scale issue and although most people won't be affected, Motorola will continue to improve call quality in those markets.

There is a toll free # set up to help those who are having issues. We are currently working with Cingular to offer a v400 with a free ear bud in an exchange program for those who are experiencing problems with their v600.
Hope this helps!

We are talking semantics here. I don't care if it is a "recall" or not as long as I get what I need. I have a v600 (which btw is a very nice phone when it is not dropping calls). Recall or not Cingular is replacing my phone with a revised v600 not a v400. I chose to wait till the v600 was revised. The v400 would not be acceptable. I bought the v600 to interface with my BMW M3s bluetooth. The v400 is not a bluetooth phone and would not suit my purposes. I invested in the technology for my car complete with a cradle that charges and ties into my antennae from my unlamented BMW motorola cpt 8000 that was overpriced and obsolescent right after I bought it.
