HTC Offers More Bootloader Unlocking Tools
HTC recently made the tools that allow users to unlock their device's bootloader available to more smartphones via its developer web side. The new handsets include the Desire HD, Wildfire, Desire Z, T-Mobile G2, Aria, ChaCha, and Status. HTC has already made the same tools available for most of its Android smartphones released since September 2011. Once unlocked, owners will have more freedom to install custom software on their Android smartphones.
AT&T Offering Android 2.2 Froyo to HTC Aria Today
AT&T indicated via its Facebook page that the HTC Aria will have access to the Android 2.2 Froyo system update at some point today. Aria owners are encouraged to check AT&T's Facebook page for the download link.
AT&T Announces HTC Aria
AT&T today announced the HTC Aria, a new Android 2.1 device that uses HTC's Sense user interface. The Aria has a 3.2-inch HVGA touch display, an optical mouse, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and video capture. It has quad-band GSM/EDGE and 850/1900MHz 7.2Mbps HSPA. Other radios include GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. It is powered by a 700MHz Qualcomm processor. Other features include a digital compass, G-sensor, and proximity sensor. It will be boxed with a 2GB microSD card and supports cards up to 32GB. The HTC Aria will be available on June 20 for $230, and AT&T is offering a $100 mail-in rebate for an AT&T promotion card. It will be available online and in retail stores starting June 20.
