Nokia Adds to Luxury Lineup

Nov 13, 2007, 9:32 AM   by Eric M. Zeman   updated Nov 13, 2007, 9:39 AM

Nokia announced two new handsets in the 8800 series of luxury phones. The 8800 Arte and 8800 Sapphire Arte have QVGA OLED displays and are tri-band EDGE 900 and GSM 1800/1900, but add 2100 MHz WCDMA 3G to the equation. Among the other upgrades from the Luna are a 3.2 Megapixel camera with autofocus, 1GB of built-in memory, Nokia's new all-in-one microUSB charging and data connector, and an anti-fingerprint coating. The Arte and Sapphire Arte also have the 8800 series living wallpaper and soundtracks, and incoming calls can be silenced by flipping the phones over on their faces. They will cost $1459 and $1677, respectively, and go on sale at the end of the year.

Nokia Announces New Luxury Slider

May 31, 2007, 12:02 PM

Nokia today announced a new high end phone that softens the long running 8000 series sliders with smoky glass and gentle lighting. The 8600 Luna has a form similar to the 8801 sold in the US last year, however the front cover of the slide is now glass instead of metal, and the phone itself has been updated to quad-band GSM/EDGE, a 2 Megapixel camera, and a QVGA display. The Luna also includes Bluetooth, a 2.5mm audio jack, and is one of the first Nokias to combine charging and data into a MicroUSB port - which Motorola has recently switched to as well.
