read txts on front screen?
So, I know the screen is rectangular, and there are no buttons on the front - but is it possible to read txts on the front screen by holding the phone sideways and using the buttons on the side? Or have they completely taken this feature away now?

I doubt it. It would have to scroll to do that. Don't know why they didn't put a normal screen on this. It looks like a fancy version of the sch-a930. I guess if they did it would be $300 instead of $229.

My LG Rep said that the R&D dept found it to be a unused feature on the phone due to the fact that you have to open the handset to reply. I personally like that feature. IT IS a software thing and can be upgraded to do so if LG makes it available.

Yeah, didn't get why they dumped that either. Guess maybe some folks need to email-bomb LG. My 8100 had it and when I got my Mom the 8300, gone. Really surprised me. I liked being able to check just to see if I needed to open the phone to reply.

That surprises me. I get text messages all the time because of work and 9 out of 10 don't require a reply so being able to view externally is great for me. I have the 8600 and I'm glad they put that back on after the whole 8300 debacle.
I really hope LG isn't doing away with that option completely.

Cool, didn't know the 8600 has the feature. That bodes well, I definitely hope they keep it.

I have had the phone for 4 days now and you can NOT receive text messages on the front screen. Hopefully LG will release a software upgrade to fix this issue...
