Send everything you want to transfer there attached to a picture message from the 8100.
When you get the new 8700, send the stuff from Pix place to the new phone.
Also, you can back up your contacts now at http://www.verizonwireless.com.
Sign up for a free "my account" and then navigate to the section that talks about backup assistant.
It says it costs 1.99 but it is free if you do it through this web site.
You also have to download a free app to the phone and it warns you about the 1.99 charge but if you manage it through the "my account" web site, you never get charged. It is a great way to guarantee you never lose your contact list.

bitpim is one way. also recording the sound then sending it yourself. but thats about it. sorry bro!
i used to use bitpim with my 7000 but not this boat anchor I currently have.
I am going to sell it and get the 8700 and do the Bitpim thing myself.
The system ring tones that come with the phones are locked and cannot be sent.

No, it doesn't work with the LG VX8100. I have about 6 ringtones that I downloaded to the phone. But it won't let you attach them to a PIX messsage.
Yes if you downloaded them from Get It Now/Verizon then you would not be able to attach them since thye are locked.
If you just go to www.myxertones.com you can make and/or have ringers sent to you phones, usually in the form of pix messages. I found this site from a friend, and no way will I ever pay for another ringer. The thing thats nice, is you can upload an mp3 and chop out a section of it, starting at a certain point, and make your favorite song your ringer.. Plus if you upgrade or get a new phone, just go back to the site and send the ringers back to your phone.. that way you can still have the same ringers.
I worked for VZW for 5 years.. they are CROOKED!!!! 👿 trust me!! the stuff that we were told/inst...

Thanks for the help!!!
I have also started sending my favorite pictures to PIX place to store them there in case the phone is lost or stolen etc. This way you can download them to the new phone in an instant.

Now here is a fact that is contrary to what you said (I know you didn't invent the phone...lol) but I wanted to bring everyone up-to-date:
I AM able to send myself ring tones through pix place and that other site myxertones.com and also mobile17.com. The ringtone arrives attached to a pix message, I open it and the menu offers me the following: Save as ring tone? Click yes and you have added another ring tone.
Very cool.
