silicone cover
I noticed that there were silicone covers for most of the phones at verizon. The sales dude said one was probably coming for the 8700. I'm thinking that one of these would be good. I already dropped mine about 3 feet onto a hard floor. I had just gotten this phone about 36 hours earlier as a replacement to my first one due to a bad speaker phone. It was after the drop that I noticed the reception was almost non-existant. I just hadn't used it but once or twice since I got it. The first one was pretty great for reception. So, I'm on my third 8700. This one is good. But I don't want to risk dropping it again. I'd rather cover up the smooth, shiney cover with something that's slip resistant. My question is, are these covers any good...

Get a lanyard and string it thru the designed hole in the upper left hand corner. I don't know where to purchase one. I used a new one from another phone. It's a great device, you don't have to have it over your wrist, just over the (4) fingers. If the phone slips, you'll catch it easily.

verizon now has the silicone covers for the env, treo, motq, krazr, razr, and I haven't heard anything yet for one for the 8700 but they don't give us much notice as to new accessories except for the debut of bluetooth headsets. I have tried the silicone covers on all of the mentioned phones and while they don't provide any real shock protection to the phone, they do make it easier to hang on to. I am not fond of the leather case for the 8700 but I have found that it does stretch and fit the phone better after a few weeks. I have always been a fan of the holsters so that is what I use with mine!
