VM or TXT Message Indicator on Outer Screen?

Hello, I'm new to the forum...hopefully someone can offer some advice/clarity.

I was wondering if you could set up the 8700 so that when there is an unopened voicemail or txt message, there is an icon that appears on the front screen (along with the time, date, battery power, # of bars, etc.). I only see an icon when i open up my phone and its on the lower left with either a small envelope (txt) or person (voicemail)...

Does anyone know if this can be done thru the main menu options or thru the ##PROGRAM8700 method?

Thanks.

Not to sound totally stupid, but how do you get talking caller I.D? Is it already on the 8700? Or is that something you have to get through Verizon? Maybe that's a dumb question, but I have read several people using talking caller i.d. and since I am still getting used to this phone and what it does, how do you get that? Sorry if that's a totally stupid question. Can anyone help? 😕

Yup,do what it says here and there are choices as to when the caller ID will talk.
Try it and report back if it does not work.

You are welcome but BE CAREFUL....
I left mine on in a meeting (I should know better) and it announced who was calling and it could have been embarrassing if I'd recorded someone's name there instead.

You can press the record button and record your own "names" and then associate them with people.
Step1: Record the name- Bill Jones (for example)
Step2: Save the recording
Step3: re-name recording Bill Jones just so you don't lose track of it
Step 4: Go into the personal profile of Bill Jones' contact, hi...

Some of the pre-recorded names are funny the Way they are pronounced and I sometimes miss the pronunciation so after it "butchers" the name, I am able to really hear who it is.

I just do it for the really important callers.

There will be an icon on the bottom portion of the screen of the phone. The icon's will stay there until you open or retrieve your messages.
