Alltel getting LG8700?

I would like to know if Alltel will be getting the LG8700. The LG AX8600 is available through Alltel in 3 different colors.

Does anyone know if Alltel will be getting the 8700? And how far down the road that might be? If I knew Alltel would not be getting an 8700, I would go with the 8600.

Where to send requests?

Does LG have a place to send feature requests to?

I love the look of this phone, but coming from an 8100 it is missing some key features. I would love to see the ability to read txt msgs from the front screen. There are definately enough keys on the side of the phone to enable it, and the screen can definately handle it.

The most annoying thing is that if you get a txt msg or voicemail, and open the phone up, but close it without checking either the txt or the vmail, from the front screen there is no little icon to let you know that you still have one. There is room on the top of the screen for it, they have the stupid little 911 Location icon there, battery life, and signal strength.

Also, you can no longer set a specific ringto...

What a cutie

Well, I settled on the 8700 after waiting forever for a nice phone to come out. My LG 4500, while not so sleek looking, was terrific.

Now I am settling in with the 8700. Unfortunately, Verizon sold me the wrong usb pack so I can't download music and ringtones are much more limited than 4500. Will get the right usb pack tomorrow.

But boy, is this phone pretty. And, since it is current, it does way more things than my 4500. Yes it gets hot (my 4500 did too, but not so quickly). And the little lady in my phone seems very soft spoken. I am going to give her a week before asking VW if I have a problem. Kinda a drag that you have to dial first before using speaker (since that was not true on 4500), but not a big deal.

Keys are real...

Picture on thefront Display?

I know the answer is probably no but since the front display of the 8700 is a narrow box, upon incoming calls do you get just the name/number or do you also get a mini picture if it is stored as a picture ID?

need help deciding

How is the battery life on the 8700. I just got the razr maxx and the only reason i chose it was the longer battery life. I like the 8700 better but need to know. i have 15 days to return the maxx.

the sales rep at the verizon store didn't know much about battery life but said standby may be up to 3 days. That is not enough as far as i am concerned... any thoughts you can add?? on which way i should go?

Damn, This Motorola Looks Good!

When I hit Phonescoop's page, I caught the glimpse of this out of the corner of my eye and immediately thought, "Wow, what the hell is that?"

It's the most beautiful Motorola design since the KRZR.

What Blue tooth head set works best?

I've had the phone for over a week and I hate the ringers, and the volume of them. Maybe it's me but I thought the Razr had a louder ringer. Anyway, looks like I'll pick up a bluetooth headset for the car. Any recommendations? Thanks, Michael

REAL Battery Life??????

I've had my 8700 for just over a week now. The battery life is not what I would consider good. In that week, I have had to charge it 4 times. I am getting 1.5 to 2 days a charge, with few calls. And the 2 day was when it was on the charger 1.5 days before that. This is not very handy figuring I am going to have to charge it every night. I am considering sending it back for something else, but I really like the phone. What are others getting for time between charges when not having many calls?

Thanks
Mark

reception woes

Ok, woes might be a bit strong.
Well, I just got mine at circuit city saturday night. It is nice. I have two phones, a Nokia 6315i for my work phone and now this one for my personal phone. Sitting at my desk, I get one to two bars pretty consistantly with my the 6315i and the 8700 is zero to one bar. Neither is as good as the Nokia, ( I forgot the model number) candy bar phone I just gave up. But that one I got for free 4 years ago when I started with verizon. I gave up a long time ago trying to get another phone with that good of reception. I'm not giving this phone up at this point though. I really like the camera and the screen, like everybody else does.
Has anybody run across a good, lock on the belt kind of holster for this ...

Owners of the new 8700 ...PLEASE READ

I do not know what or who to believe. I went into my local VzW corporate store this afternoon. They have the 8700's in stock, BUT cannot release them until they get the quote 'quirks' worked out, and THAT WAS A QUOTE! What should I/we do if this is true? I spent $349 full boat price for mine. When I call VzW directly, I always get some lame excuse. Believe this, tech support at VzW suggested that I call LG. Soooooo I called LG in Huntsville Al., and they admitted there are little bugs, but too soon to tell for any flash downloads. I suppose the logical thing is to say a very sad bye bye, and return it to VzW until all parties get all the little 'quirks' ironed out. It is a GREAT phone. Maybe if Vzw would have left it alone to LG fa...
