does VZW charge if you just use WI-FI??
may sound like a crazy question, but do they...I just don't want to use the crap out of the wifi on this phone and get charged per kilo byte...like i said i assume not, cuz I'm not using their network...but assuming can make an @$$ out of me thanks in advance

I don't think so, because there is no action with the towers.

I just talked with a Verizon Rep, and they said that Wi-Fi is charged at 15.00 per MB. When researching the Samsung i-760, everyone seemed to say that you could block the phone's data usage and get free WI-FI. I would have assumed that this was the case for the similar XV6800.

Keep in mind that if you leave the WiFi on for extended periods on this (and may other PDA phones) it'll drain the battery very quickly. Fortunately, there's a switch on the side of this phone to turn the wifi on/off easily.

You don't get charged for wifi......I have a 6700 and it's not connected to a phone line. I can still turn the phone on and go on the net with it by tuning the wifi on. No charge!!

Of course not!! WIFI is a function of the PDA, or the hardware. Before I activated my phone last weekend, I used WIFI for 2 days before Verizon even knew I had the phone. You only get charged if you use Verizon's broadband service. Since I have no interest in broadband, I had them disable the service centrally, and the only way I can re-activate it is to call them. I can surf the net and get and receive emails while on WIFI. All you need is a hotspot! If Verizon bills you for the use of somone else's hotspot then they are stealing!
