this has to be, right? i know they'll have aircards too, but seeing as this is the first lustworthy 🤤 device announced with their particular flavor of 3G - doesn't that make sense?

I've been told by a number of T-Mo peeps that they are skipping 3G altogether in favor of WiMax, which they plan on rolling out inside of the next year. Has anyone else heard this?

Why is that crazy? What are you basing that on? Do you work for T-Mobile? I'm reporting what several T-Mobile employees, fairly well up the chain, not salespeople, related to me. Maybe it is crazy...but why is that crazy?

I've heard the same, and I work for T-Mobile. Haven't seen it in writing from corporate yet so not sure though.

It seems really late in the game for T-Mob to try and get 3G up and running at this point. It would almost be a waste of all the new spectrum they have. And I'm guessing the Q9h will drop LOOOOONG before T-Mob would even be ready to roll out 3G. Nah, 3G on here is most likely stricktly Cingular.

I have heard from numerous people that they will be skipping 3G, and going straight to 4G starting this June. It will be nice to see Deutsche telekom finally put some effort toward their north american market. Personally I have always liked T-mo for their customer service. But was hard to sell to anyone other than kids, or those purely concerned with vanity due to data speeds, devices, and coverage. As for the Q9 just because it has 3G WCDMA does not mean that T-mo plans on using it. It is just like any better than dual band GSM phone in the US, it only matters to you if you travel outside the US.

t-mobile is not doing wimax... wishful thinking is nice though. sprint is the only carrier in the US that is doing wimax and clearwire is the wannabe of sprint

How do you know T Mobile isn't doing WiMax? Facts? I keep hearing this from people within the company, who have reasons for saying it. Also, as I'm sure you're aware, the company spent over 2 Billion bucks on new licenses. What might they be doing with all those?

thier 1700mhz 3g. lol i check on phones sites alot to keep up on my sales. not once have i seen or heard t-mobile getting wimax. if they would have, i would have seen it in:

1) the wimax forum where companies who are setting up wimax join this group and are known as one of the worldwide wimax operators, nothing news or current on t-mobile

2) nothing from CTIA

3) nothing on yahoo news

4) nothing on yahoo finance except for this http://www.thestreet.com/_yahoo/pom/pomrmy/10 344167.html?cm_ven=YAHOO&cm_cat=FREE& cm_ite=NA which explains t-mobile doing a dual mode wi-fi/cell phone which allows your phone to do unlimited calls on a wi-fi which is lame because you can only stay at a certain area depending on signal strength and i...

Well, you've clearly given this far more thought and investigation than I. We will see how it shakes out, but T-Mo is not standing on Edge for very much longer, which is obvious, and what might that upgrade be? We shall see...

It sounds like you work for or sell Spring products. Your comment about T-Mo call clarity, therefore, seems a bit funny. Where I live (NYC), Sprint is hands-down-not-even-close, the worst call quality and everyone knows it. Especially for people on the other end. I (try to) talk to alot of people on Sprint and I tried it out, because of the excellent data plans/value in that area, but the call quality was a deal breaker. Very poor. I have, however, moved form VZW to T-Mo (believe or not) and the call quality...
