LG VX-8550 Chocolate
Thinking of returning Razr 2 and getting new Chocolate. But I have some basic questions, help!
I have had the Razr 2 for a week now, and so far I am still on the fence about keeping it. I'm coming from an LG 8100 and have had LGs for years, but heard all the hype about the new Razr so I decided to go with my first Moto in many years.
Basically, I've gone through trials of the LG 8700, and Samsung U740 so far and now the Razr 2. Ultimately, I end up comparing every phone I've had, feature-wise, to my old 8100. I've always been a fan of flips, but now I'm really considering trying the new Chocolate. Can anyone that's had the phone for a while (over a month) give me opinions and help answer the questions on the following:
1. How sturdy is the slide? Do you think it will get loose?
2. Can you read text messages on the front wi...

I'll be VERY curious to see what people think of your question. I too , was really considering the razr 2 but now am going back to my original idea of the new chocolate phone. I just have always wanted a razr phone!

I've never wanted the old razr or variations on the Razr before. But with all the hype about the capabilities of this new Razr 2 and the new look, I was excited about it.
However, after using it a week, it is just really design over function and every day that goes by I am leaning more towards returning it.
I did like the old Chocolate when it came out, but I heard people were having so many problems with it. So when the new and improved Chocolate came out, I wanted it but was held back by knowing that the style was already out for a year and it wasn't officially "new" but more of an improvement.
But here I am buying a new Razr 2, which is essentially the same thing. And I'm not 100% happy with it. Yes the phone is thin, but it'...

I have had the new Chocolate since it first came out so I think I can give pretty good answers to your questions.
1. The slide on mine is very good. I know there were some that were bad from the beginning but then you can just simply swap it out. This is one thing that overall I worry about in the long run but only time will tell. So far its been about 2+ months and the slide is just as sturdy as it was on day 1.

3. I am not quite sure if I am understanding you right, but I think this feature is the same on the Chocolate as the 8100. When you scroll to "Mom" for instance, you can click the right arrow key and view her cell and home #s. You can also set which # you want as the default for texting.

Thanks very much for the comments! In fact I did end up getting the Chocolate a couple of weeks ago and I love it.
However, I have been going over my text allowance of 500 and VZW is just getting a bit expensive for me. I share 700 minutes with my hubby and it costs $70. Every month I pay about $100 because I have a 250 text each, $5 web on one phone, and ins on both. If I want to double my minutes and have unltd text, it's going to cost me $50 more a month.
On the other hand, Tmobile has much more reasonable plans and you get more minutes. So since the Blackberry Curve is coming to Tmobile next Monday 9/24, I am planning to switch. Hubby loves his EnV for the Qwerty keyboard, so now the both of us will have our Qwerty keyboard, ...

Its your phone and u get to keep/sell it but you wouldve got more money selling the razr2
Tmobile is great and the curve is available and if uu need a texting phone we always got the sidekick especially the new ones comming out 😉
