Agreed. This is why I have yet to upgrade from the my LG-VX8300. Far as I know this was the last phone from VZW that had individualized text alerts.

uhm.. are you guys talking about being able to set a different tone for ALL text messages... or different tones for texts from different people?

if it's the former, of COURSE you can set a different tone for your texts.. if you mean setting tones for texts from different people.. then I guess you're SOL.... 'cause I've never seen that on a verizon phone (not one that I've owned anyway).

When I had my LG V (9800), that phone could do differetn ringtones for different people when they would text you. Other than that phone, I know the 8100 could but other than that nothing. Mmmmm...

funny... I have the 8100 on my second line right now.. and my first Verizon phone was the V... but I never used that feature...

I check all messages when I get them.. so no one's text goes unread anyway.

Sorry to hear that they bumped a feature. ☚ī¸

true i usually check all my messages once I get them as well but it's just interesting to hear if the Voyager has that feature or not> if not then fine since I do text a lot, I'm just wondering.

Nope.. I just checked.

But if it's not a huge issue for you, I'd say that this phone is a safe bet. I've had the V, xv6700, chocolate, vx8100, treo 700w, and now the Voyager.. (these are just the Verizon phone's I've owned since june '06) and for complete feature-set, this is my most favorite phone that I've ever owned.

Needs a centered spacebar, WiFi, straight-forward user uploadable ringtones, and a slight resolution bump on the camera.... but those are just small niggles about a phone that does it's job as a whole.

I wouldn't hesitate recommending this phone to someone int he market for a device in the range (non-smartphone yet feature laden).

Ya know what, why thnk you very much! I appreciate that for once you're not actually bagging the phone. hahah. As for the spacebar, well i usuually use the lower right hand spacebar anyway. I have the enV so it's the same exact layout. As for the WiFi, it's got EVDO and WiFi the salesrep told me isn't made for cello phones so it eats up battery life like crazy. Since EVDO is made for phones and it's fast, it's perfect for VErizon phones. Straight-forward user uploadable ringtones, can't you use some kind of ringtone website for the Voyager? For a slight bump in resolution for the camera, well now,k doesn't it go up to 1600X1200? My enV does and that's more than enough for me. hahah. But Thanks for your nice comments about the phone for once. ...

Yea, so I guess Im SOL. This is so sad lol. I liked hearing different sounds for different people. ie-I would check some people faster than others 😛

I guess this will save me on ringtones tho. My 8100 and then my last phone 8300 had the feature. It was very enjoyable. May it rest in peace!

My V (9800) was my last phone which did the specialized ringtones for texting. Eh, it was a nice feature but i've gotten used to just having 1 ringer besides, i've got the voice command mode activated so it says who is calling or messaging me.

That's what I'm saying. I'd love to do that but at the very least, now I can definitley accesss my school email even though I'm graduating soon. On Mobile web 2.0, my school email was alwasy unsuccessful at logging in and now on the full web browsewr, you can actuallly do it which is aweseom!

I checked every phone on the floor today, from the Coupe, to our crappy Nokia, to all the LG's, Samsungs and Mot's...not a single one of the current VZW phones allows you to set individualized text alerts. Seems pretty silly. A line of software code could fix this. Oh well. I've been using this on my 8300, and 8100 before it, and as I text a helluva lot more than I talk on my phone, this has become a valuable feature. I guess I'll just stick with my 8300 until VZW brings it back. đŸ˜ĸ
