Navigator usage & charges

I bought one of the first Voyagers out there and thoroughly enjoy it so far. I'm wanting to know if I add the Navigator feature for $9.99 a month, am I also using my "minutes" whenever I am using that feature ? I have a simple Nationwide $39.99 mo., 450 anytime minutes plan, and the $5 mo./250 TXT plan. I do not plan to add any Premium plan or Vcast etc. at this time

I'm thinking I heard I am charged BOTH the $9.99 mo. for the Navigator AND it is using "minutes" from my plan while I am using it. That seems to be sort of a double whammy. So just looking for an answer that might explain and/or rationalize this, if that is indeed the case.

No need to suggest me adding a bigger plan, as I know that is usually the answer/cure all for t...

you'll pay data charges for the download of the app, but after that, there aren't mb charges to run it, according to the info on the vznavigator page.

Sounds good so far. But am I using up my monthly "talk minutes" also while I am using it ? In my case, if I am making a 1-2 hr. trip and (for the sake of this example) have the Navigator function on for the entire time, did I just burn thru 60-120 minutes of my Nationwide 450 Anytime talk time minutes?

I realize this sounds "cheap", but I'm trying to figure out which options cost more more money and/or minutes. I'm sure at some point later on, I'll consider adding onto my plans, but can't at this point.
Thanks again.

If you are a Nationwide Calling Plan it will charge you per MB

Americas Choice you will get charged airtime

You will only get charged airtime/mb (depending on your plan) when VZNavigator is sending and receiving data. Say when you input an address and it is planing out your trip...that is when it will charge mb or airtime.

According to the navigator faq page, you will not be charged for use of navigator, either minutes or data, after you pay for the download of the app and the subscription fee. It's very clear. The quote is very plain: "Megabyte charges will not be incurred for using the application after download to the device. Application not available on all handsets." This is why the user to user forum is not appropriate for these kinds of questions. Lots of idle speculation from people who aren't authorized to interpret the various calling plans. Check with customer service, note the name of the rep and contact date, ask them to repeat the understanding, and request that they confirm this understanding in the call record. What you hear from users here is ...

Thanks for the info. I typically tend to do both --- ask you all what you have experienced so far, and then supplement it with factual info from the service reps, along with something they can document.

I appreciate all the help you folks provide on this forum !
