IMAP with Self-Signed Certificate
Hi,
I am not a Voyager owner (yet). I am the IT Director for a small company and also manage the cell phones. We currently have 5 Treos syncing with our mail server. I have not been all that happy with my Treo and recently, it quit working entirely. I have had it for close to 20 months and probably am going to have to get a new phone. I have been looking at the Voyager.
I figure that the Voyager, not having a Windows Mobile OS (thank god) will not sync with Exchange. However, I do need to get my email. My mail server has a self signed certificate and I would need to install this on the Voyager.
Finally, to my question: Can I install a self-signed certificate on the Voyager to get my email via IMAP?

Verizon Mobile Email (not voyager specific) supports pop/imap and ssl and will let you configure standard or non-standard ports, although it is not a smooth or seamless as it should be. It's a get-it-now download. The older Eudora-2-go (and soda-pop before that) was far superior, but no longer available. You can also use Verizon Wireless Sync which uses a desktop push app to sync mail, contacts and calendar to the voyager. Mobile email is 5.99/mo or free with an unlimited data plan. Wireless sync is 19.99/mo with or without an unlimited data plan. Data is charged (or not) according to your plan. You don't need to install a certificate on the phone in either case.
