Yes. It has CDMA for use in the US, and GSM for use overseas. There is a SIM card slot.

(Note that - like all of Verizon and Sprint's CDMA+GSM world phones - it will not not work on US GSM networks. It only supports US frequency bands in CDMA mode, and only supports GSM on overseas frequency bands.)

It's not a problem. I just think it's important to point out.

Some people see "CDMA + GSM" and they think it's a Verizon phone that can roam on AT&T, for example. I just want to make it clear that this phone can't do that (no phone can, that I know of.)

It would be pretty cool if you could roam off of US GSM towers aswell. Then you would have the ultimate device that could be used EVERYWHERE!

This phone, in addition to CDMA in North America, operates on two frequency bands, GSM 900 and GSM 1800. It does NOT operate on the GSM 850 and GSM 1900 frequency bands.

An unlocked quad-band GSM phone would have covered all countries.

Correct.

An unlocked quad-band GSM phone would have covered all countries.

Huh? 😕

What countries are NOT covered by this phone? In places where you might GSM 850 and GSM 1900, you can simply use CDMA instead. It's a true world phone that can work on all major frequency bands, just in CDMA mode (instead of GSM) in the Americas.

A quad-band GSM phone also does you no good if you're a Verizon or Sprint customer. People should choose a carrier first, based on who provides the best servic...

that is not entirely true. One country you cannot use this phone is Chile. Chile uses the 850 and 1900 Mhz bands and they no longer have CDMA. I checked w/Verizon Global Services and they confirmed it.

You can always look at GSMWORLD.COM to see which frequency bands are in use in a specific country.

This phone does 850 and 1900 mhz on CDMA and 900 and 1800 mhz on GSM.
