I recently was in the United Kingdom and used my phone. It worked fine except it had trouble with the correct time. Does anyone know how this can be fixed?
Also how do you get an unlock code from Verizon for a prepaid sim from t-Mobile? I will be going back this summer for a longer period of time and Verizons cost is way to high to use for that extended period.
...
I don't know how to fix the time, but the unlock code is not tied to any SIM. Once the phone is in GSM mode with any non-Verizon SIM installed, the phone should prompt for the subsidy code. Once the proper code is entered, the phone is unlocked and it shouldn't be necessary to unlock it again later, even if a SIM from another non-Verizon carrier is installed.

Ok, this may be a bit of dumb question but where do I get the subsidy code? Is that the code I should call and get from Verizon? Also did you use any other sim besides a T-Mobile one yet? Thanks

Could either of you comment on the functionality of the phone and any dislikes or likes you may have.....i have an E815 and i am spoiled by how well it works.....thanks

You get the subsidy code from Verizon Global Services. No, I haven't yet had the opportunity to test the phone since I installed the T-Mobile SIM for purposes of unlocking the phone.
...
ok thanks I will have to try that in June. Did you buy the T-Mobile sim overseas or in the States?
...
I borrowed the SIM from a friend's T-Mobile phone.

Could either of you respond to my question about how you like the phone and how well it works...thanks

I like the phone and feel that it works well. So far I haven't had any problems, a much needed upgrade from the razr.
I like the fact that my family and friends can easily get a hold of me while traveling overseas, even if it is very expensive for a call.
I do not like that Verizon will not let you do certain things but that is Verizon.

Although I've not as yet been able to test the phone overseas, I can tell you that I like it a lot for domestic use as a telephone. Voices are clear and the slide design is easy to use. As I've gotten used to it, I prefer it to a flip. I've gotten used to the smaller keys (I used to use an E815). But remember, I've only used the phone to make calls, not to text, not to listen to music and not as a camera.

I should add that I did use it overseas and it worked great. Except the time was not correct I beleve it was off by about an hour maybe 2 I do not remember. But it did work and that was a welcome change to actually have my phone.

I had my phone unlocked by Verizon and have used it in several overseas countries using 3rd party SIMS. In every case using GSM, I had to set the time manually. Only in Brazil using CDMA did the phone set the time automatically - but never in GSM mode. Don't know why. In any event it is a great phone. I upgraded from an E815 and the only problem is the low volume on the speaker-phone - needs improvement. To those of you wanting to upgrade from the E815 (IMHO the best phone ever!!) and need international capability, this phone is winner.

How do you set the time on the phone? I don't see a menu item for that. Thanks.

Sorry for the delay - I don't access phonescoop that often. As I recall, when I inserted the SIM and booted the phone, it prompted me to enter time and date. I have a foreign SIM in my phone and I could not find a menu item for time and date. Hope that helps.

It does help. Thanks.
